‘Halal pizza and pierogi’ dispatch for people who love humans, culture, and spirit of justice that is our city, Chicago. 🧿🕊️🌻🍉
Reactionary shills like Burke who run as ‘wink-wink-nudge-nudge’ [gasp] Democrats should just come out and admit that they’re just Republicans without the rizz.

We should all get behind the 7500 South Shore residents. There has to be justice for them.
NEW — In response to a court-ordered evacuation, members of the 7500 South Shore Tenants Union are demanding more time and money for residents to leave the apartment complex and relocate.

Good!
Moments ago: tenants of the South Shore apartment building that federal immigration agents raided at the end of September held a presser to announce they're forming a tenants union.

They're demanding, among other things, sewage removal and heat and electricity restroration.

More updates TK.

But “defund the police” was so traumatizing for the segregationist crowd. They can’t possibly be horrified by the idea of a Black child gasping for air for 4 minutes. The idea of that child dancing on a parked BMW is far scarier. Hell is hot.
Precious time that could still have saved his life. That child lay their gasping for air and Loehmann just watched him die.

Loehmann was acquitted of all charges.

Injustice upon injustice.😓

Speak on it, representative Ramirez. Shame on @quigley.house.gov and the rest of the cowards who keep making excuses for their inaction on this never ending genocide.
Netanyahu and Trump can't be trusted.

Throughout this so-called “ceasefire,” Netanyahu has continued to bomb Gaza and is still restricting the flow of humanitarian aid.

This is not a drill.
During an immigration raid on a Chicago apartment building, Johandry José Andrade Jiménez said his three little girls wailed when agents threw him against the floor.

Naudelys Yeyes said she pleaded with agents to stop hitting a man she knew.

Next time someone says ‘business community’ throw a shoe a them. It’s called corporate activism, the kind that left unchecked, paves the way for profit hungry corporate interests to exploit and ruin actual human communities.
At least 30 individual or corporations who have given over $116M to Trump and his super PAC have received regulatory favors from the Trump White House.

That includes Big Tobacco companies, Pharma giants, and crypto moguls like the Winklevoss twins.

Pay-to-play corruption.

Well. If anyone needed extra convincing to support Mayor’s Protect Chicago budget, Business PAC is against it, so it has to be a good deal for the people!
Business PAC One Future Illinois sent out texts to constituents urging them to call Ald. Desmon Yancy to say thanks for speaking out against Mayor Johnson’s “irresponsible budget.”

Yancy did not immediately respond to questions about his position on the head tax.

Straight outta Gulag.
If the pattern follows B-18 here in LA, DHS is clearing out Broadview to hide the human rights abuses.

The magistrate will visit an empty facility.

And three days later DHS will have it packed again.
ANOTHER UPDATE: Photo sent to me from a faith leader on the ground outside the Broadview ICE detention center this morning shows several buses now parked outside the facility.

This, the leader says, is an unusual occurrence.

Also: a magistrate is set to visit the facility next week.

Our local profile in courage, @quigley.house.gov shaking his tiny fist to chase the clout of publicity over ICE abducting a teacher, yet is absolutely silent on CPD & other Illinois law enforcement helping ICE & border patrol & abusing protesters. We’re sick of all the grandstanding at our expense.
