AuDHD writer/ former editor who lost my mojo in 2017 after a major concussion. Still chasing it around...

I enjoy and may post about books, writing, photography, food, autism/ADHD, exvangelicalism, pop culture, or my current deep fixation.

US farmers sold $2 billion of food to USAID. Not any more.

- US farmers provided 41% of food delivered by USAID
- $340M of purchases/shipments are now paused. Over 680,000 tonnes.
- Food stranded in Houston
- Aid stopped in transit.

The world’s poor starving, food rotting & US farmers screwed.
Gutting USAID threatens billions of dollars for U.S. farms, businesses
U.S. businesses that sold goods and services to USAID are in limbo, including American farms dealing in rice, wheat and soybeans.

I spent 4 years happily not engaging in politics. This isn't political.

This is one way to express dissent (masterful tbh).

Feeling seen, right here.

Remember the thing about the two wolves?

To be honest it's more of two squirrels - one a fastidious clean freak, and the other a hyper-caffeinated monster who wants to do all of the things, right bloody now!

I keep saying this but copyeditors are the most important people you never hear discussed in the publishing world, and if you doubt what I say, go try reading any Harry Potter book post goblet of fire when she got her own way with the edits

Today at work I got held over again. I'm usually okay to help out, but it was my third 12-hour shift in a row, and the third Thursday (my Friday night) I was held over, cutting into my limited time off.

It went badly.

PSA: A lot of bots are invading Bluesky, so many of us are being cautious in following back.

Please make sure you put something in your bio to tell people who you are! This is how we find each other!

Like and repost other's posts! This is how we build Bluesky!

And helps show you are not a bot!

Your feel good story of the day 🥰

Orphaned (+ unrelated) Amur tiger cubs Boris + Svetlaya were rescued from the wild as cubs + lived together for 18 mo. They were released to the wild in different locations.

1 yr later, Boris traveled 120+ miles to where Svetlaya lived. 6 mo later, they had cubs.
120 Miles of Russian Forest Couldn’t Keep Two Siberian Tigers Apart (Gift Article)
Boris and Svetlaya were raised together as orphaned cubs, and then reintroduced to the wild separately. But Boris went on a trek that surprised the researchers who were monitoring him.

The "no bio" thing is huge for me.

No posts but lots of replies is also a flag.

Nothing but sales.

It's not that hard. I use social media to *gasp* socialize.
Developing my criteria for blocking new followers who look like they might be bots or trolls-in-waiting:

- no bio
- no posts while showing hundreds or 1000s of follows and followers
- no pic of self or avatar
- all about Jebus and Bible verses
- only reposts, nothing original

I am sad to read the comments.

Not because of the death of a man who justified the death of so many others, but because of the loss of empathy reflected in the comments.

I certainly can't hate this CEO's children, and it's the children who are suffering from this man's death.
