I know it's too much to read the words that many of us write, but what we are actually mad about are systems that force people into car dependency and policy choices that mean living somewhere walkable and bikeable with robust public transit is ridiculously expensive. We want to fix this!

“There’s a public health imperative to quickly expand the adoption of autonomous vehicles.”

Would the author say the same about building bike lanes? Installing automatic traffic cameras? Requiring Intelligent Speed Assist?

All of those are proven to save lives — and at a fraction of AVs' cost.

OPINION: The world economy is already locked into a 19 percent loss of income by 2050 due to climate change.

This makes one thing clear: The consequence of inaction is far greater than the consequence of action and #COP30 needs to be transformative.

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

Sorry, but a lack of support for autonomous vehicles is not among Sec Pete's biggest missed opportunities at USDOT.

For instance:
🔹 Failure to stop Tesla from lying about Autopilot, FSD, etc
🔹 Failure to curb car bloat
🔹 Continuing to spend fed $$ on highway expansions that won't fix congestion

This is so fucking true and it drives me bananas. Whether due to a sick sense of pride or a stunning lack of empathy, rich people would rather spend MORE money keeping progressives out of office than have their money be taxed for social programs.

i have a handful of theories as to why, but none of them fully explain why we've managed to get all on the same page and fully radicalized on how expensive housing has become but the closest anyone gets to noticing transportation is also expensive is "gas prices are too damn high"
AAA estimates the average cost of owning a car is $12,297 a year, and recommends drivers spend no more than 10 percent of their income on car costs. This means you should make 120K to afford the average cost. Median *household* income in the US is $77K. The math just doesn't work.
