Chronic Over Thinker
Now I’m just somebody that you used to know.
People Over Profit
Seems to me it is kind of analogous to the christian doctrine that believes self-deletion is one of the handful of things that is the single greatest unforgivable sin.
They literally say he violated terms of service by committing suicide.
“OpenAI’s court filing argued that the harms in this case were at least partly caused by Raine’s ‘failure to heed warnings, obtain help, or otherwise exercise reasonable care,’ as well as the ‘failure of others to respond to his obvious signs of distress.’”

Sometimes i catch a bit of Wizard of Oz fandom discourse at of reminds me so much of ttrpg edition warring (book vs movie vs alternate book vs musical vs movie version of the musical, etc).

So tiring to make liking things into a competition or argument 😑

This.

I guess for me however, I don’t see this as completely unthinkable.

There are still people in the year 2025 with serious health consequences, even death, from fully preventable burn, blister, cut, & other open wounds infections.

I think maybe a lot of the examples happen offline.
In 1924, Calvin Coolidge's 16-yr-old son played tennis on the White House grounds w/o wearing socks. He got a blister and was dead from infection a week later.

This is unthinkable today—which is why I wrote this series. Cuz the systems that save us from this kind of fate are in urgent need of care.
For a yr, I've been working on a series for The New Atlantis about the vast systems that underlie our lives. Our ancestors built them up over decades to fend off hunger, thirst, darkness and disease. But too few of us know about them—and they're all at risk. The conclusion is now available online:

Lesson learned: just because Past Me turned the hot water tap off, doesn’t mean Past Me also turned off the cold, Current and Future Me should always double check *both* before unhooking any pipes or appliance hook ups 🤣 💦

We have got to collectively help people understand that of course the local* cops are acting as an arm of the machine. That is their purpose.

People need to grow their minds & grieve what they've been conditioned to believe about cops being there to help/serve/protect.

In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

Having tiny snacks to give people like a cheese or veggie plate will keep people from getting hangry if the timing gets off and food is delayed.
Okay Americans, it's that time of year:

- Your turkey should be in the fridge thawing at this point

- When planning your menu, remember how many burners your stove has

- You will need more butter, chicken/veggie stock, salt, and paper towels than you think

- There's no shame in pre-made

2) always very funny when these people realize the extent to which their billionaire patrons could not possibly give less of a shit about them

Friends, this is a low hanging boycott action.

Similar to Hulu and Disney+ actions.

You can help turn the tide and it will make other platforms think twice.

If I had known that 🔥lighting mock houses on fire with fryer oil to demonstrate how dangerous things can be 🧯was a career option when I was in high school, I might have chosen differently 🤣
Notice how adding water is bad.

Follow the instructions that come with your turkey fryer. Use your turkey fryer away from your home. Have a working fire extinguisher.

If you get health insurance from your employer, but your job keeps you too busy to schedule appointments and go visit a doctor, what’s the point?

You can have the greatest health plan in the world, but if there is never time to use it, why does it matter?

it's weird to live in a world where a new 'worst thing you've ever imagined' happens at least a few times a month and it's easy to let it all run together and just sort of wash over you and go totally numb to all of it so you don't freak out because you still have to do laundry and go to work.
