Dear network I am looking for patient advocacy or support groups for patients diagnosed with Kidney cancer [particularly clear cell Renal cell carcinoma]. or patients open to talk to me about life with metastatic cancer and disease monitoring.
(Ideally located in Switzerland)
Thank you 🙏

Question for Single-cell experts:
I have single nuclei data for different samples from different patients.
would you:
A: Cluster and annotate each sample separately then integrate all of them together (but would need to find the best resolution for all samples)

Very interesting thread
From another side the brain is a muscle, are we really loosing intelligence or not training this muscle enough
Also new times, new skills needed, should we not have new metrics to measure performance other than the traditional ones?

NEW 🧵 Is human intelligence starting to decline?

Recent results from major international tests show that the average person’s capacity to process information, use reasoning and solve novel problems has been falling since around the mid 2010s

What should we make of this?

Both papers in #NatureCom reveal therapeutic potential of CT-179 in Medulloblastoma recurrence by targeting OLIG-2. Blocking this protein reduced tumour formation and increased survival in mice by preventing dormant stem cells from being activated and proliferating. #MedSky #OncSky #Medulloblastoma

Interesting read from @natureportfolio.nature.com
📉 PhD enrolments are dropping due to high living costs, low stipends & job insecurity. Many are stuck in a cycle of cheap labor with little mentorship. Is academia failing its future researchers? 🤔

A study in Nature Microbiology demonstrates that phenotypic flexibility allows influenza A virus to rapidly respond to environmental pressures in a way that provides dynamic adaptation potential in changing surroundings. 🧪

First FDA-approved drug targeting fusions in paediatric gliomas! 🎉
This is a big step, BRAF::KIAA1549 is the most common molecular alteration in PLGG.
While OS is high, these patients face low PFS, long-term treatments, and a need for deeper research.💪🔬

Tiny plastic particles may accumulate at higher levels in the human brain than in the kidney and liver, with greater concentrations detected in postmortem samples from 2024 than in those from 2016, suggests a paper in Nature Medicine. https://go.nature.com/414lf9S #Medsky 🧪

I tried FigOneLab by Dean Lee #NoAd before recommending it
Liked that it’s direct application to actual #bioinformatic use
Any other recommendations for beginners? #academia #biology
