Astounded given the demand for aged care, particularly nursing homes, is about to ⬆️ sig. in Tasmania. Over the next 15 yrs, the no. ppl aged 85+ will ⬆️ 106% and we will not have sufficient workforce to provide the level of care needed to ‘age in place’. #politas www.themercury.com.au/news/tasmani...

I call on the Australian government to #RaiseTheRate of all support payments to a living wage.
This would be the single most effective way to lift the productivity, quality of life, and well-being of the whole country.

Want an excuse to move to Tasmania (Hobart)? It's honestly a beautiful place to live and enjoy nature with an opportunity for work-life balance. We're looking for a lecturer/senior lecturer in biomedicine. Plus, you'll have the added bonus of me for a colleague.

What if the Rapture happened and no-one ascended because the people that believed in it are actually terrible Christians?

Kilmeade sounds like a comic book villain's name (like Kilgrave from Jessica Jones). I guess he's living up to his name's potential?

For students: how can we quantify neurodegeneration using #microscopy? One way is to use a marker like 🟡 below (SMI32). It identifies a population of pyramidal neurons that is lost early in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer and Parkinson. And after some viral infections 👀👀

The mulgara must be protected at all costs!
Mini marsupial bounces back from the brink!

Once listed as Endangered, the crest-tailed mulgara expanded its range by more than 48,000 km² between 2015 and 2021, lifting its status to Least Concern. Biocontrol contributed to the heartwarming bounce-back.

Today’s Supreme Court ruling gives ICE the green light to stop someone just for speaking Spanish in a Home Depot parking lot.

That’s racial profiling — and it’s wrong.

Breaking News: The Supreme Court has backed President Donald Trump’s push to allow immigration enforcement officials to continue what critics describe as “roving patrols” in Southern California that lower courts said likely violated the Fourth Amendment.

I've been watching a lot of a Scottish metal detectorist on YouTube (TheScottishDetectorist) - he's amazing by the way - he apparently runs tours of Scotland outlining history etc...). One thing that's very clear (and a little weird) is that historically people have been really bad at keeping coins.

I hope the cold snap freezes their gonads and they snap off during the march.
"People who attend the “March for Australia” rallies will almost certainly be marching alongside white supremacists and neo-Nazis,"

"Politicians from all sides should be at the counter-protests this weekend to demonstrate that neo-Nazis have no place in Australia." @ebonybennett.bsky.social #auspol
Who's going to stand up and make Nazis ashamed again?
A "March for Australia" rally sounds benign, but people who plan to attend the "March for Australia" rallies around the country on Sunday will almost certainly be marching alongside white supremacists...
