Researching museums, enduring academia • he/him
There has to be a better way to request academic journal peer reviews that doesn't involve automated email requests and absolutely no human contact throughout.

I say yes when I can, but when even the thank-yous are automated and my name is misspelled, I can't help but question the system a little!

Mandatory 30-minute session of sitting down and staring at the sea every time I happen to be in Brighton. Highly recommend

Having the conference in a heritage venue gave it so much character! Kudos to all the staff at St Fagans for the extra logistical effort required to pull this off!
That’s a wrap on sessions at St Fagans for #Museums2025! 🎬

We’ve had a wonderful two days on-site with you, discussing how community, solidarity and friendship can bring people together at a time of uncertainty and division.

The queer tour of St Fagans was my personal highlight of the MA Conference so far! Lovely to see a PERMANENT queer display in such a prominent spot in the gallery 🩷 #Museums2025

Von Dutch for a bottom two lip sync of a season premiere was certainly a choice for #DragRaceUK

I am one of the 14 authors who chose to leave the Polari Prize, and I find myself frustrated and saddened at the way this entire story has been represented. 1/

"This book is surprisingly easy to read," I think to myself, lying on a sunbed at the beach, enjoying quite possibly the best reading conditions known to humankind

Why are you not still living in the place where you went to primary school? Perhaps because you wanted to find opportunities that suited you and people who were interested in the things you are interested in, rather the strangers you happened to be plonked down next to early on?

I have a photo album on my phone dedicated to museum toilets. Classy, I know.

On average I visit 50 museums a year and, as a genderqueer person, I prefer an all-gender toilet.

I’m reminded of a recent Judith Butler interview in which they pointed out that the history of feminism is characterised by resisting definitions of what a woman is or can be. The idea that my gametes (good lord) are what make me a woman feels as offensive as any other limitation i can imagine.
I can’t help but think something has gone wrong in your life if you’re spending your morning off work holding a sign that says “Large Gametes”.

regardless of today’s outcome, it is morally indefensible to have a court ruling on something that affects a population, using evidence and findings that did not consult a single member of that population.

My visit to Catania and the Monastero dei Benedettini completely redefined my idea of what a university can look like 🤯
