Check out our preprint! With new molecular mechanisms, 140 subtomogram averages, and ~600 annotated cells under different conditions, we @embl.org were able to describe bacterial populations with in-cell #cryoET. And there’s a surprise at the end 🕵️

The A–C linker structure!!! 🤩 Beautiful work. Even if you’re not as centriole-obsessed as we are, you’ll appreciate the elegance and complexity. Amazing to see U-ExM proteins in human centrioles fitting right into these densities. Congrats to all!

Mammalian cells have KSR, budding yeast has Ste5… and fission yeast has Sms1 as the MAPK scaffold for sexual reproduction!

Very excited to share my postdoc work where we discover that the hemi-arrestin Sms1 binds all components of the MAPK cascade, including ERK-like Spk1
