I said it would get worse very quickly. By tomorrow we will have completed the most dangerous & frightening 24 hours thus far of Trump 2.0. Just to name a few:

Can confirm that my NSF grant "How False Beliefs Form & How to Correct Them" was cancelled today because it is "not in alignment with current NSF priorities" Shocking that understanding how people are misled by false information is now a forbidden topic. Our work will continue but at a smaller scale

The battle over Columbia has sadly given me a ton of deja vu of the Erdoğan government's takeover of Turkey's Boğaziçi University in recent years. @abuaardvark.bsky.social has nicely drawn that connection here -- and reminded us of the importance of student and faculty resistance:

Just to be clear, this is a faculty member reporting a recent student at his institution to a fascist regime because he disagrees with the student’s political views. Absolutely chilling and vile.
In case you missed it, the day before Mahmoud Khalil’s detention by Ice none other than Shai Davidai tweeted at Rubio demanding his deportation.
And once he was apprehended, he felt these were legit “consequences” for him protesting.
