I work as a translator/editor and am constantly pointing out to anglophone people from around the world, not just white people, that xyz expression is AAVE or from ballroom culture, and should not be appropriated/extracted by the corporate anglosphere.
If Black vernacular were not so powerful you would not see so many non-Black people adopting it for nearly all social and emotional purposes.

Today, of all days, please don't tell me how much you love the MTR, okay?
And if it was not bad enough: first aiders and many members of the press were barred from entering Prince Edward MTR station in the aftermath of the attack. Also, the MTR did not release CCTV recordings of the events, rendering it complicit with regards to what happened on August 31st, 2019.
