The US has always had concentration camps… they just called them reservations. They have always tortured children, they were called residential schools. Knowing your history is important to know that your enemy is the system.
The USA now has CONCENTRATION CAMPS

The USA is torturing, starving, and killing adults and CHILDREN in these CONCENTRATION CAMPS

Sick
Disgusting
Abhorrent

WHAT HAPPENED TO NEVER AGAIN

I mean the main blowback they are facing from me is not going far enough.
The NYT says Democratic proposals for reforming ICE are “facing blowback.”

But blowback from who? Not the people! Polls show support for most reforms exceeds 60%, with some ideas reaching as high as 94% of the public!

U.K. might lose a prime minister because a guy who worked for him knew another guy who hung out with Epstein. Meanwhile the U.S. opposition party is telling our President, who was Epstein's best friend, that his secret police should get better training so their public street murders look less messy.

A helpful tip: Blocking an account does not unfollow them. 17 people I follow still show up as following this trash basket, and I know at least some of y'all don't mean to be.

Remember: Unfollow, THEN block!
Whole lot of you following Neil Gaiman, and I assume it's because you forgot you did so and he stopped posting when it was revealed he is a rapist.

Since he's trying to make a return, do yourself a favour and check if you're following @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com and if so unfollow and block.

Abolish ICE.

There’s no reforming it.

There’s no compromise.

There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.

It is in fact nice to get genuine reader email, not generated by "AI." I try to respond to all the reader email I get, even if it's a brief "Thank you!" If you mail an author I recommend a) keep it short, b) be positive; no one likes getting "your work sucks" email. Don't expect a reply for that.
The only author I've ever written to to tell them I liked their fiction was Ken Liu, who wrote back and was very nice.

I should probably do that a bit more; it's probably nice to have a short note from a reader.

DHS literally posted "Want cheaper housing?" with a number to report your neighbors.

We did this in the Trail of Tears. We used weak people's desire for free land to get them turn on the Natives. That was the "Destiny" our nation made manifest.

I agree that it’s high fucking time that we stopped acting like we need to grovel and constantly justify the existence of some of our most incredibly elemental and ancient human pursuits.
Are the humanities the only disciplines whose classes begin with modules speaking to the importance of studying the humanities? "Why study the humanities?" and "Why the humanities are important" must be cliches.

in times of turmoil it is very easy to feel like theres nothing you can do to help, especially if you are far away, but i promise buckaroo EVERYTHING helps. there is direct action like donating money or protesting, and there is cultural action like creating art and cultivating atmosphere of change

The president should be impeached and convicted, as should everyone responsible for these outrages. ICE should be disbanded. So should the Department of Homeland Security. And the people who have killed should be investigated and brought before judges and juries.
We have to see the logic of the killings as well as the killings themselves. The horror is a truth in itself. But it is also a sign of a political logic, one known from the totalitarian regimes of the twentieth century.

This is a great guide on how you can help support protestors even if you live outside of Minnesota. Note, especially, the bit about Ring cameras.

"Ring partners with Flock, which gives information to law enforcement (without a warrant), including ICE."👇

The interesting applications of AI are all, like, "we built an open framework that uses processors on recycled cell phones to identify and triangulate the location of rare bugs in tropical rainforests" while big tech is going "what if we burned down that rainforest to summarize your emails?"
Calling all the PhDs I know to make monumental annoyances of themselves (and honestly, who better)
