Don’t all these problems go away if universities stop being businesses?
'More degree subjects are likely to face extinction unless changes are made to competition laws to allow universities to work together to maintain certain courses, experts have said.' 1/3
Competition law exemption ‘needed to prevent courses dying out’
Attempts to quell universities’ fears about competition laws may actually be heightening anxiety over collaboration in cash-strapped sector

This is just it. They’re privileged enough to know that if it doesn’t work out they won’t be disadvantaged by the consequences of their right wing political turn, but they will have made themselves desirable to a string of corporates who will offer rather lovely consulting positions.
Their strategy here is “Win over elderly reactionaries or bust”, and it’s helpful to understand that for them, “bust” means “very well-remunerated post-politics job with corporate donor” or at worst, “period in opposition, then try again with exactly the same shit”.

We've been getting ten times as much coverage of Charlie Kirk getting airholed as this news out of Nepal, and I think that says a great deal about how craven, terminally twitter brained and America-pilled our media is, more than the relative importance of the stories.

The impulse was already there and had been for a while, white nationalism isn’t new. GG caused the creation/expansion of online infrastructure for networking, community building (mainly among young online people) and spreading/testing of tactics and propaganda. But it didn’t invent the fasc wheel.

Roughly this time last year, at the end of June, we had a short heat spike of a few days. My mum always struggled when temps got above 25c. On 30th June she had a heart attack and died.

We’ve lost so much common sense knowledge about how to keep ourselves safe, all in the pursuit of consumerist pleasure.
Thought this article from Low Tech Magazine was very interesting, and encourages me to think of ways to reduce temperature, besides just AC, during the upcoming heatwave:
