Thanks for your support. We hope management acknowledges we aren’t asking for unreasonable things in our contract. In fact, couple of our leaders had similar protections at the union newsrooms they worked at previously as up-and-coming reporters.
Man really sucks to hear that propublica is not treating their workers right. Propublica is an amazing news organization because of the people who work there and we need investigative journalism more than ever
1/ READY TO STRIKE: More than 80% of our members signed a pledge saying we are prepared to strike unless @propublica.org agrees to a fair contract.

1/ Federal records show how a dramatic raid in Chicago was facilitated by a landlord who was apparently concerned about immigrants squatting in the building. The government claimed a Venezuelan gang had taken over the apt complex, but that’s not what docs say. 🧵

I expected the cuts would be bad but I'm honestly stunned and sickened seeing how many great journalists the Washington Post just lost. People who nailed huge investigations, documented war zones, exposed horrific crimes, dropped all at once for failures they did not cause.

Bezos isn't destroying the Washington Post because it isn't profitable. He's destroying the Washington Post because he's calculated that a robust free press threatens the ability of his class to warp society around their interests

I’m disappointed that ProPublica management has forced its workers into this position. We are asking for basic job protections, AI guardrails to protect our great journalism and journalists, and to make sure our wages can keep up with inflation.

The federal government still hasn’t identified the men who killed ICU veteran affairs nurse Alex Pretti.

ProPublica reporter David McSwane just did the public service of investigating and learning their identities.

This incident alone would have triggered hearings and probably a senior-level resignation in another administration.
This is just insane. It’s only a matter of time before DHS kills another innocent person here.

I get tired of saying it, but I’ll say it again: the nature of oppression in America is that they workshop it first on Black, Latino, Asian & Native people.

But it is always, in the end, coming for everyone.
The arrests of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are a test for every MSM member with a platform. If you are not voicing your outrage at this blatant violation of the First Amendment, you are utterly discredited as a journalist.

I don't believe in destiny. I don't believe hard work is rewarded. We don't live in a meritocracy. But I believe in inevitability as the result of a series of variables of which one has no control. Being pulled over by ICE is example of chilling inevitability.
What It Feels Like Getting Stopped by ICE
