We’re introducing a new layer of verification on Bluesky — a user-friendly, easily recognizable blue check.

In addition to account verification issued by Bluesky, we're also introducing Trusted Verifiers. Select independent organizations can verify accounts directly.

More data showing that 85%+ of accounts just read/lurk. This is important because it means that very active fake accounts (often hundreds of accounts controlled by one person or organization) can easily dominate conversations, creating the illusion of consensus or popularity. 1/2
Despite initial bursts and declines in total and average activity, Bluesky achieved a stable level of daily engagement, with around 15% active users after the US Elections, matching inactivity rates on X/Twitter (~85% lurkers).

restaurant profit margins are thin enough, but any restaurants that heavily feature coconut milk, fish sauce, gochujang, teff, berebere, cumin, sichuan pepper, avocado, black vinegar, chili crisp oil, cardamom, tamarind, or soy sauce are in for a world of pain

As of right now some but not all of these accounts are currently on my moderation list, due to safeguards that are in place to prevent a single network from overloading the setup I use to maintain the list.

They will eventually all be added.
Earlier today, someone created a massive network of empty Bluesky accounts with repetitive biographies such as "Ireland based, interested in travel", "Netherlands based, interested in fashion", "Turkey based, interested in technology", and so on.

Thus far, the purpose of these accounts is unclear.

i need people to understand that asian grocery stores aren’t just a lifeline to asian americans: they’re also a source of fresh and affordable produce to low income non-asians who live in HCOL areas

Asian grocery stores are a lifeline to the communities they serve. But store owners say the prospect of sweeping tariffs are threatening their ability to stock up on goods and keep prices affordable.

There's a small but growing number of people online who constantly do the "Place, Japan" meme but for China, and while it's nowhere near as much of a problem as Sinophobia, it's still obnoxious whenever it comes up, and is oftentimes more than a little Orientalist
Most if not all labor unions in China are company unions and largely will bow to management. This is something some Americans don’t care about when they make up shit about China to feel better about themselves
Nope. Also guess which country has no effective unionization capacity in tech in addition to the us

PSA: Revoke any app passwords you have on your account that you aren't using. It's always a good idea to do so immediately once you're done with the service that used the app password.
#BadActorBingo heads up: it looks like there's a tool out there that people had previously authorized on their accounts that has now been compromised and is being used for malicious purposes.
