Every chance they have, Republicans are taking action to make healthcare less affordable, and I’ve had enough.

Healthcare is expensive enough as it is – Oregonians don’t need DC politicians raising their costs even more.

The Public Lands Rule provides us with modern, science-based tools to protect, restore, and preserve our environment.

The Trump administration is trying to get rid of it.

I’m joining my colleagues to demand the rule stay in place.

Hivemind (do we still say that?): I had an HVAC guy tell me today that our fume hoods, if the sash is up at all (like to put hands in there) does not send air through the roof but recirculates it. Says that’s different when the sash is fully down. I am (pun) baffled! Could this be true?

USDA websites for accessing SNOTel and snow course data are offline. These were working normally through Friday morning. Data is still flowing: some (not all) of the SNOTel data remains available though other non-gov websites. 😡 #akwx @climatologist49.bsky.social #weather

Was out yesterday to get coffee with a friend by bike, we discovered some pretty good riding north of Empire. On the return we hit the trail heading south beside Pilot Butte Canal…which would make a great MUP! 🤞that this is on the radar of those designing routes.

As leaders of her own party seek concessions from Republicans with a government shutdown looming, U.S. Rep. Janelle Bynum reiterated a sentiment in an interview with OPB. Congress is again nearing a vote on a short-term federal spending package that — if it fails — could shut down the government.
If federal government shuts down, Republicans will ‘own it,’ Oregon Democrat Janelle Bynum says
With the new budget year beginning in October, Democrats are seeking concessions from Republicans for their votes to keep the government running.

Y'all, I'm watching some meltdowns here tonight, I'm feeling sorta boiled-out myself, so I wrote a thing.

It's a bad time. If we stick together, we can get through it.

When I started this story in December, I planned to write about how remarkable it is that scientists discovered wildfires 50,000 years ago with ice cores.

But then Trump happened. The US was the "premier polar power" in science. Experts say this is "imperiled" thanks to cuts to science.
The critical research that unlocks our climate's past and future may be on thin ice
