I know we're not supposed to talk about Woody Allen, but ANNIE HALL is one of the supreme American movies & Diane Keaton's wild charisma is 90% of the reason why. And btw her performance of "Seems Like Old Times" is pure magic—up there with the greatest musical scenes in cinema, zero doubt

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

Again, we want to emphasize this for every voter who believes in an informed Congress passing bills that are supposed to be in the interest of the country, if they voted yes without reading it, you need to replace them. They get paid $174k a year with benefits for life and can't bother to read bills
We've been at local gov meetings where the governing bodies refused to vote on legislation that they didn't have time to read. Issues as simple as where stop signs would go. Everyone in Congress who voted yes on a bill while whining about how they didn't have time to read it is a worthless hack.

did some poll site volunteering for the ZM campaign in my neighborhood, and I was (perhaps naively) not prepared for my own neighbors to look me in the eye and call him a terrorist, whine like a child that they hope he loses, and *scream* at me that I should be ashamed of myself for voting for him
the hideous reactions to Mamdani’s primary win make me feel despair on an existential level. how can people live in a country this wealthy and get angry at the idea of anyone receiving “freebies,” how is hatred so many people’s only conception of virtue, not just hatred of others but of themselves

If Zohran had simply won, dayenu.

That the full final vote count was this triumphant? 🥲

I ❤️ NY
The final ranked-choice voting tabulation is here and it shows Zohran Mamdani crushed Andrew Cuomo with some major help from Brad Lander.

This guy would not only make an incredible mayor, politically, and just as a figurehead, he would also be a boon to the local economy. The way he sells New York reminds me of narration from a 1940s news reel about the miracles of modern life.
