Doctors working at one Israeli detention site were told not to write their names on official documents, fearing they could be "identified and charged with war crimes".

We know people seeking asylum are dying: but Government won't even record their deaths. We can't save lives without knowing how people are dying & why.
Today, Lords debate a Borders Bill amendment to ensure these deaths can't be swept under the rug.

Honoured to play a role in ensuring Manchester and Sanctuary are forever interlinked.

A history that goes right back to Viraj Mendis at @hulmeascension.bsky.social.

(Would recommend reading up on this chapter of Manchester’s history if you’re unfamiliar! ✊)
An appreciation post on #TrusteesWeek! 🧡

We're super grateful for the work our trustees do to guide MCoS' strategic vision; ensuring we embed sanctuary in every last corner of the city.

Futureproofing our movement of welcome, one meeting at a time. 📈

For some, being a "humanitarian" has nothing to do with justice and solidarity, but everything to do with white saviourism.
The humanitarian myth of 'neutrality' is the perfect political cover for Tory Zionists working in the sector (yeah, they exist unfortunately).

You'll often hear them banging on about 'access', thus avoiding naming the likes of genocide, settler colonialism, capitalism.

Let's call them out.
"we’ll cut through the depoliticised narratives often used to obscure the reality of Israel’s settler-colonial project"

and "hear from health workers and organisers challenging the limits of humanitarianism"

Now you're talking. @medact.bsky.social 👏

The UAE is behind these monsters.

Funding them. Arming them. Enabling them.

Whilst sat at the UN Security Council acting like they know nothing about them.

It’s time to expose them.

Enjoyed creating this post.

A stirring chronicle in Manchester’s radical history that arguably still doesn’t get the attention it deserves.

#BlackHistoryMonth
What better way to mark the end of #BlackHistoryMonth than to commemorate one of the finest chapters in our city's history - #PanAfricanCongress.

We honour not only the delegates' decolonial, anti-racist vision, but also the role of Mancunians in making the Congress happen.

What would you do to keep your family safe? You'd do anything, right?

Thats why more men cross the Channel. They don't want to put their wives or children in danger. They come first to find safety & to try to bring their families the right way.

No one risks it all unless they have no other choice🧵

£9.95. Per week. For all essentials.

Remember that next time you hear someone spout off about the supposed life of luxury people seeking sanctuary lead.

This misinformation needs to be put right. Thankfully City of Sanctuary have made it easy with this vital thread 👇
You’ve got £9.95 to last you the whole week… what’s your plan?

This impossible choice is played out in asylum hotels. Whilst people await a decision on their claim, they are banned from working & receive just £9.95 for clothes, travel, data & more.

This is not luxury. This is a hellish limbo.

Detention is state violence. It devastates health. It must be abolished.

The National Day of Solidarity is a vital moment for growing the movement, raising awareness and building our collective power.

But the fight for justice continues every single day. #TheseWallsMustFall

Neglect. Self-harm. Prison-like conditions.

Detention is an affront to human dignity.

On the National Day of Solidarity and every day, we stand with all those subjected to this abuse, and call for a new approach - one rooted in justice, care and humanity.

An end to Israel’s merciless killing is of course something to celebrate.

But make no mistake: this is all part of Trump and Netanyahu’s plan.

With the world busy celebrating, they’re busy selling Palestine to the highest bidder.
Yes. Yes. Yes.

One of the many reasons I love @medact.bsky.social is because they have the courage to speak the truth.

So whilst the majority of NGOs applaud Trump’s deal, it’s heartening to see this statement call it what it is: a colonial project that robs Palestine of autonomy.

The death rate among Palestinian children aged 9-14 grew NINEFOLD following October 2023.

The actual rate will be EVEN higher.

Yet genocide backers still argue that ‘Israel doesn’t target children’.
