I’ve seen a lot of fellow fujos feeling a way about heated rivalry’s success and I get it, but I think we need to at least acknowledge how huge this is for us and for queer people!

I'm 67 and gay. I lived through the AIDS epidemic and buried way too many friends. It is the hole in my generation.
Watching Heated Rivalry is a tonic to me. I have watched too many movies that portrayed us as tragic characters, and now this - a public declaration of love and a kiss that the crowd cheers.
Do not take this moment for granted. This is a triumph, a cultural phenomenon, something that has been fought for. I only wish those passed could have seen this. This is for them.

It's worth mentioning that Heated Rivalry arrived in that space between Thanksgiving and Christmas just when many queer people are feeling especially isolated/invisible. It's given us something positive, fun, and romantic to enjoy, talk about, and connect with/through at exactly the time of year when we need it the most

heads up that bluesky doesnt show posts from other languages by default on your timeline, and its cutting you off from a lot of the community

go to bsky.app/settings/lan... and deselect any language from this setting, or else you might not see any of the new japanese users at all!
