FWIW I know some people who think it is victim-blaming to criticize how anyone handles a government interrogation but I think it is important for people to understand that you are not only putting yourself at risk when you speak to LE. You are also potentially endangering your friends & comrades.
Hasan Piker spoke to government agents for nearly 2 hours. Should he have?

“Everybody thinks that knowing your rights is about being able to argue with the police about what your rights are … The way we are in solidarity with each other is making a collective agreement not to speak to police”
‘Don’t yap to cops’: why Hasan Piker’s US customs story kicked off a backlash
CBP agents’ questioning of the leftwing streamer shone a light on an urgent question: what are your rights at the border (or airport)?

Depraved. It's unconscionable that Governor Healey isn't doing anything to stop these abductions.

100%, but I also think since people have been in search of the “Rubicon” lately, the Patriot Act/creation of DHS is as good a place to put it as any. W was terrible on the domestic front, too, it just took about 20 years to fully come into view
George W. Bush was the worst President of the last few generations and it's really not close. what we in the US are (rightly!) up in arms about is that Trump is the worst President for us, specifically - which is a different thing
(Me, a genius) I see no through line with how George W Bush, who legalized torture through illegal means and illegally invaded a country and killed millions of people, is connected to the current moment

Yes it's a plagiarism machine meant to put us all out of work and enrich the worst people alive and yes one request expends more energy than it takes to power Buffalo for a week, but more than that anything to do with AI is just corny dork-made shit. It fucking sucks and so do you if you use it.

I’m new here but check out this story I just published on Northampton’s attempt to move on from policing – and how it’s strayed from what activists envisioned: theshoestring.org/2024/12/18/f...
Former Division of Community Care Employees Speak Out
Northampton’s Division of Community Care was born of activist demands for an alternative to policing. But some former employees say the agency has strayed from its mandate.

That a dude with a couple cameras and a plate of appetizers can make something worth $82.5 million and a media company looks at that and goes "couldn't we make even more money if we had AI do it?" tells you exactly how stupid these people are
The $82.5 million sale of "Hot Ones" studio First We Feast is part of a broader strategy at BuzzFeed to shift away from human editors, writers and content producers in favor of artificial intelligence, which result in "high-margin, tech-enabled revenue lines."
BuzzFeed sells "Hot Ones" studio for $82.5 million as it pursues more AI-driven content
The company said the sale will allow it to depend less on human-created content in favor of "high-margin, tech-enabled revenue lines."

Say it!!💥
I’m going to say it again, generative AI and the push for it to be used in every Avenue of learning and education is because generative AI literally is a weapon for knowledge destruction not a knowledge creation tool and silicon valleys goal is to monetize and gate off all of human knowledge
The more this is explained the worse it appears.

Gov Healy "has presented a narrative in which incoming migrants are the chaos agent. She doesn’t call them rapists and murderers like Trump...but she’s allowed a pernicious myth to profligate that immigrants are taking the services intended for our native residents." @billshaner.bsky.social writes.
It becomes hard to see the difference
A pernicious myth

If we ever emerge from this dystopia, students will learn about our murder-cartel "health insurance industry" in horror, astonished that a vast system of actuarial slaughter was *legal*. Paragraphs like this will be seen in the vein of Zone of Interest:
