I tallied the number of court cases or legal challenges Alberta’s government has recently stepped in to block or pre-empt. Was surprised how long the exercise took - they’re at like a one-per-week clip:

From transgender policies to referendums to "conservative" party names, the Alberta UCP has stepped in where others have feared to tread.

TODAY, Court of King’s Bench, after hearing submissions from First Nations, ruled that the separatists’ (Alberta Prosperity Project) proposed referendum question is unconstitutional. It violates all Albertans Charter and First Nations’ treaty rights.

Premier, what now?

I'm old enough to remember when tech reporting helped you learn how to use new features as they came out.

Now it helps you AVOID new features the tech companies are trying to force upon you.
One Tech Tip: Want to turn off Meta AI? You can't — but there are some workarounds
If you use Facebook, WhatsApp or Instagram. you probably noticed a new character pop up — answering search queries, entering your group chats and eagerly offering tidbits of information in your feeds.

Quite the scathing 'epilogue' that Justice Feasby added to his decision, in response to legislation tabled by Alberta's UCP government just yesterday:

maybe I'll be proved wrong but my hunch is that in a couple of years time (at most) that FIFA Peace Prize thing will no longer exist. It's just pure flummery from one lot of deeply corrupt grifters to further puff the brittle, narcissistic ego of another deeply corrupt grifter

The #FIFA peace prize is just pathetic. They are totally pandering to him like he’s a 5 year old getting his own “wings” from a Delta pilot.

We blew up another boat yesterday and threatened to invade another nation this week.

Lost a ton of respect for #FIFA today. Awarding a "peace" prize to someone who's authorizing murder in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean and preparing to invade Venezuela, is NO WAY deserving of the "honor". FIFA is just kissing his orange a$$!

The #FIFA Peace Prize is a joke, created to stroke the ego of a narcissistic President of the US. Even in Gaza his "peace deal" is violated every day.

What happened to keeping politics out of football? We now hand prizes to Presidents, when just a symbolic armband was forbidden.

How about we give them bus passes instead?

Face eating leopard party eats another face.
Danielle has to be nervous.
The BC Conservative Party just announced they have removed John Rustad as their party leader.

Comes hours after Rustad said he was staying on despite 20 MLAs calling for his removal, arguing there was no mechanism for the party to turf him as leader after winning his leadership review.

Jason Kenney ultimately got toppled by his own party's base because he took some tepid steps, belatedly, on COVID-19.

Based on the crowd reaction at the UCP convention this weekend, Danielle Smith might get turfed because she tried to co-operate, however reluctantly, with Ottawa.
