This morning I'm sharing a 🧵about my freelance gigs on Fiverr, because it is important to their metrics that we share the gigs on social media. Sharing this thread, clicking into the gigs, they all help me find my clients!

I was told repeatedly that I wasn't giving or tolerating enough, from my teens through my thirties, to mean men, homophobic churches, conservative friends. We gave and tolerated our way into the fascist crisis on this planet that we have now. I'm done, and this article has great examples of why.
I think the saddest part of this is how women are so rigidly socialized to give men the benefit of every possible doubt while giving themselves no grace at all. ONE OF THESE MEN HAD THREATENED TO KILL HER.

This is a thing I want professional societies to think more about, as well, because about 15 years ago I backed away from the large library association I was in, and have gotten much more out of smaller, leaner, more regional groups, before and since.
So many Academic/Honor Societies try to broaden their membership base but are out of touch in how to tell the average student how membership will benefit them.

I'm deeply grateful that @lyndamk.bsky.social wrote a lovely blurb for my book, "The Data Management Workbook," which comes out in just over a month.

I really admire Lynda's work, her books, and her recent efforts with the @datarescueproject.org.

Leah Bobet's most recent newsletter has me gasping with laughter over her description of The Wicker Man, a film I enjoy but also really enjoy humor about. Scroll down to the "things watched" section but honestly, I enjoy the whole thing. Leah is great. buttondown.com/leahbobet/ar...

Downside of making fun of the Geongju menu today? Now I want to go make banchan instead of doing my work. Even though I have two quarts of kkakdugi in the fridge.

New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

Will I be finishing my application for an EU VAT number while laying on the futon in my office underneath an incredibly fluffy cat? Signs point to yes. I did ask if she could help but she gave me her best я-не-знаю look and I am reminded that she came to USA from the CIS, not the EU.

I did not mean to get a side gig in boarding a cat, but a friend needed time to arrange to retrieve her, and so I have a fluffy, snuggly friend laying on my wrists as I type and tapping her tail against my leg. A plus is that she understands Russian and seems to be enjoying my baby talk.

Looking at this chart on moldova1.md/p/58353/parl... and I think if 3 percent of the vote is still to be counted and multiple time zones of major diaspora polling locations aren't even closed yet, locations we know to vote heavily PAS, then PAS has likely secured a pro-EU majority in the elections.

Next week will be the first of 4 weeks of striking from our members as we continue to say NO to the compulsory redundancies forced on us by the university for their poor financial choices.

A good thread.

Ruin family dinner over this if someone you know spouts anti-rabies-vaccine nonsense. If a pet is reported to break the skin biting a human and state health authorities don't have proof of rabies vax they must euthanize the pet in order to test. Do NOT take chances with rabies.
May I remind everyone that there is currently NO cure for rabies.

May I also remind everyone there is absolutely NO scientific proof connecting ANY vaccine that we produce today with autism.

This is true regarding vaccination in both humans AND in dogs.

Vaccinate your pets please.

Not me looking for an excuse to get the primary rabies immunization series but not wanting to expose myself to an animal bite that would justify it to my insurance, nope, look away, you see NOTHING.
