Gentle reminder that there's no such thing as a "TERF".

The term you were looking for is "Feminism-Appropriating Reactionary Transphobe".

"Wars for 'common sense'" is what they are, ultimately.

The cultural war over Bad Bunny, for instance, isn't about the NFL, much less PR 🇵🇷 or artistic content.

It's whether "'typical' Americans" hear spoken Spanish & think "that person might have amazing talent" or "why are 'they' even 'here'?".
Motion to stop calling it 'culture wars' when one side has culture and the other has nothing but malice, banality, and vulgarity.

Call it 'attack on culture' idk, something else though

All of those esoteric questions about how we define consciousness are fine and interesting, but the tech companies are not pushing those questions as part of a quest to advance understanding. They want us believing they're making something powerful that we must accede our agency to.

I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."

That's not the case, for any number of possible reasons.

If such as thing as a "novel of ideas" exists, _Moby-Dick_ must surely be a "novel of intrusive / digressive ideas". 🐋
Is there really such a thing as a "novel of ideas"? Is that not just a category people have made up for novels they think are bad?

ICE's chief testified today that dozens of agents have been investigated for abuse in the last year.

So how many have actually been punished and fired?

He wouldn't say.

ICE did this in October 2025 and there was little to no mainstream outrage because of where it is and how rural, conservative, and white the majority of people in the state are.
After a 16-year-old complained his zip-ties were too tight at a an ICE/FBI raid in southwest Idaho, an officer laughed and tightened them, the ACLU alleges in a new lawsuit.

He still has scars, months later.

Also bad news for milkweed, presumably?

(I'm impressed the UK's courts also create inanities forcing non-dairy food producers to retool their packaging—unnecessary burdens seeking to drive them out of business in favor of traditional dairies. I thought we'd cornered that dirty work here the USA!)
