A question I frequently get asked is how I stay updated on SEO industry knowledge. The good news is that this industry is very generous with what it shares. People struggle with being aware of what they need to notice, not how to find the material.

An education, which isn't limited to the textbooks being sold to students, is how you learn what questions to ask, and what answers to challenge.

LLMs are biased data, not knowledge, generation machines and function closer to a search engine than a person who can reason.
If you have zero education, but learn how to ask AI models the right questions , in many jobs you will be able to outperform someone with an advanced degree, but who is unwilling to use Large Language Models.

Just takes a smartphone, curiosity to experiment and a mindset to learn.

Ikko Narahara: "Shadow of car driving through desert, Arizona" (1971). From "Where Time Has Vanished" series.

A striking work by this pioneering Japanese photographer. His dramatic high-contrast style shines in this American landscape. #ikkonarahara #JapanesePhotography

Sometimes I need to remind myself of this advice... 🙄
From experience, people are never going to admit their site is bad - it's an ego matter. That's one reason why we need to be careful how we frame negative feedback. Tip: there's usually something positive to say. So, say it!
Someone reached out to me with their website "definitively not being spam" not ranking and I looked at it and boy was it low quality. I'm not sure if they know that. I'm considering asking them what they think their website is. I genuinely want to understand this.

My prediction for 2025's social media landscape:
In 2025, social media will split into two worlds: the 'Dark Forest' of chaos and the 'Cozy Web' of care. Which side will define our future? (1/5)

Networks like Blacksky could be the future of user-controlled social spaces - the "Cozy Web" versus the "Dark Forest" (hostile environments full of bots, thieves, misinformation, hate and scams) 🌟

👋Hey SEOs: Has anyone started offering optimization for Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)?

I just started work on an initial offer: tracking AI-driven search in GA4 and Looker Studio to help clients grasp this rapidly changing search landscape. Thoughts on better approaches?

Changes I'm making next year to my docs for next year:

- proposals will expire after 30 days
- projects MUST start within 15 days of signing the SOW
- invoices will have schedules from day one (no more "final 50% due upon delivery")
- late fees will automatically be applied to late invoices

We want Bluesky to be a great home for journalists, publishers, and creators. Unlike other platforms, we don't de-promote your links. Post all the links you want — Bluesky is a lobby to the open web.
