I'm having a hard time distinguishing what the Republicans think should be the Federal responsibility vs the State. States fend for themselves on everything except disappearing people seems to be the idea.

From a former conservative Christian who took over a decade to become an agnostic liberal, I can tell you that discovering you were wrong isn't an instant revelation. The time, energy, and pain (yes, pain) it takes can't be discredited. But it's possible.

What could be the reason Republicans want to get rid of NOAA? It is because it's a way to distract from climate change. The rich will buy up land in the north and let the red states suffer disaster after disaster without warning. "Weeding" out the poor.

Part of me feels like Democrats need to let the right do what they want so people finally see how anti-human the right has become. The part I don't like, of course, is the innocent people that will suffer if Democrats don't try to fix things.
