So I guess a reintroduction is in order.

Hi! I’m Brian!

I’m an American who commentates Aussie Rules Football and cricket, but I follow most other sports and am a lifelong Philly sports fan.

I do freelance work and love popping into podcasts to chat, so if you think I can help, let me know!
I had my iPhone charger port cleaned out for the first time in like eight months and it’s like getting a new phone again.

I miss when you could post Brave Norman Rockwell Townsperson and the caption could be, like, “R.E.M was wrong to leave ‘Fretless’ off of Out of Time” instead of “The secret police should stop murdering people.”

Thought Experiment: redesign the Olympics medal table so that it's weighted according to the length of the event (in rounds/physical time) and how many individuals make up the entity that wins the medal.

Because the amount of effort and size of each team is skewed but it's always 1 event = 1 medal.

Watching the USA v Denmark Olympic ice Hockey match just in case it dissolves into something akin to that Hungary v USSR water polo match at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Denmark surprisingly take the early lead.

She drove six hours for us to hang out for the weekend. We saw Batman, went into Center City, and ate at the finest diners in Northeast Philly.

(And as she drove away, I thought: “I’m either never going to see her again or we’re gonna end up married. No in between. That was 2005)
This is an unapologetically sappy feel-good subject (at least, I guess, for people in a happy relationship”). So, to prepare for Valentine’s Day, what did you and your partner do for a first date?

My wife and I went to tea at Huntington Gardens and walked around.
On our first date, my spouse and I spent like an hour talking about footnotes.

This note to the Prog-Rock Cabal from @kallao.bsky.social. Genesis released one of their best albums, A Trick of The Tail, on this day in 1976. Phil Collins released his debut solo lp on this day in 1981. And it’s Peter Gabriel’s 76th birthday today. Thank you.

I suspect Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych, who has never finished higher than 10th in the Olympics, World or European championships, knew his insisting on wearing a helmet commemorating athletes/coaches killed in the war would DQ him, but now he has reminded the world of their deaths.

The International Olympic Committee has disqualified a Ukrainian sled athlete over his refusal to remove images of war dead from his helmet in competition.
