lefty electoral organizer in maine

she/her
gonna do a thread of the books i read this year:

really enjoyed this one! by taking such a zoomed in approach to 1658-60 and depicting events at the pace people lived through them, it quite convincingly argues that the republic's fall was far from inevitable, even after cromwell's death

Why did Trump invade Venezuela? Was it oil? Power? Anti-migrant sentiment? (all of the above)? We spoke with Gabriel Hetland to get to the bottom of this key question.

Non-protesting dad just trying to hustle his kids, as young as 6mo, out of the neighborhood. ICE threw a flash-bang INTO HIS car, all 6 kids in the hospital now.

If anyone wondered how things turn against occupying armies there's a case study playing out in front of you.
That is what was relayed

older people flipping out at younger people for not having children feels like it says more about those older people, and the society that they created than anything.

obviously he did seek a second term, but the fact that people thought it could happen (and a bunch of right wingers got excited about the prospect of a different nominee) is such a different world

the fact that there was speculation that eisenhower wouldnt seek a second term cause he was too old/in too poor health at only 66 years old feels quaint compared to how things are today

(also sorry, me saying its not a bad bet was me agreeing with your first part about UAW not disagreeing with the second bit about SOB)

the problem with labor for the democrats is that there are fewer and fewer people who are members of unions, so focusing on spending political capital on things like bailing out the teamsters yields shrinking returns, whereas the general strategy of trying to expand union membership is good

On my way to the Supreme Court where I'll be proud to support 15-year-old Becky Pepper-Jackson, West Virginia's only transgender athlete, as she opposes the state's effort to ban her from playing as herself.

Win or lose, Becky and her family are heroes for standing up for what's right
