I feel like Kat is underselling her encounter with @tricialockwood.bsky.social here. You might think this was taken at a signing event or similar. Not so! Kat had gone to the bookshop to buy Tricia's book for my birthday, and was having trouble finding it.
@tricialockwood.bsky.social I've finally given Rick his copy of Will There Ever Be Another You (from your secret corner of the LRB bookshop)! Thank you again 💙

Can we turn this government off and on again, it seems to have got into an inconsistent state?
In a new digital twist to environmental individualisation of responsibility, the UK government is now advising people to “[d]elete old emails and pictures” in data centres to help with the current drought. www.gov.uk/government/n...

One of the best presents your past self can give you is for them to have ignored an album by a previously loved artist because someone said it wasn't worth bothering shelling out for. And now thanks to the magic of the internet your current self can finally get around to listening to it...

The absolute feebleness of the government's response to what is now undoubtedly an ongoing genocide is infuriating. There are real material actions that can be taken against Israel but all that's being talked about is the purely symbolic act of recognising Palestinian statehood.
I am not interested in leaders' psychodramas. The only thing UK PM can do is beg Trump to do right??? The UK government can and should what is entirely within its powers: to suspend the trade agreement with Israel, suspend all weapon shipments, etc etc etc etc

Britain’s PM will see his US counterpart on Monday. He should urge Trump to force an end to the Palestinians’ agony, says Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland

We’ve thrown away decades of knowledge about tainting, query parameters and binding, for what.

It's a sign! The time is ripe for PUB TAPESTRIES!
What is sure to be a blockbuster exhibition, the Bayeux Tapestry is reportedly coming to London next year and will go on display at the British Museum.

Always here for novel ways of reducing the hard surface reverb problem in pubs. I still think we could make pub tapestries a thing if we tried hard enough.
Not like it's totally banging in here, but it's busy for a Monday. I reckon @totalcurtis.bsky.social would appreciate the baffles (I know I am)

Here is a conversation I have sometimes had with small children, which I’m always a bit disappointed to have by the time they’re, I dunno, ten or so:
- Did this turn out to be a good idea the last time you did it?
- Do you think it would be a good idea to do it again now?
- Really?

The new Throwing Muses album sounds great - the cello + harsh clean guitar combo works really well with Kristin's late period voice - but it doesn't much sound like Throwing Muses. Feels odd to have such a great+distinctive rhythm section and then have them either not present or sounding anonymous.
