In a solidaristic sense I also don't think we should be defining ourselves as somehow not immigrants in this discussion. At the very least these cunts should have to say to my face why *I* don't have to worry. Explain yourselves clearly. Why would that be?

Mandatory unpaid work to be done by The Other, is it?

A very gentle 15 minutes. You even get to pick an outfit and see some other players running around in the space!

Just reminded of the Oglaf strip with the crow lawyer.

(One of the few safe for work strips, but the rest of the comics are very smutty.)

Mental health status: annoyed, nay aggravated, by laws of nature such as the sun glinting off windows as I go by on the bus and that thing where if someone is coming towards you on the pavement, you will unerringly meet at the narrowest point, even if it’s the only narrow point in the whole road.

I’m the kind of stressed where I can’t seem to sit down and just do the (v simple) work thing. Which then stresses me more. My hair hurts. I cannot deal with the betrayal of a false autumn, is what I’m saying.

Ferociously co-signing this. Hazel has worn many hats, but the constant in it all has been her wonderful writing—about the hats, what it’s like to wear them, how they’re made and how they go with the rest of the outfit, to belabour the metaphor somewhat. [only somewhat? -ed.]
here's the praise she will hate: she's extremely smart & an excellent writer, knowledgeable abt all kinds of things (some p weird but not all!), a tasmanian devil of energies, a generous inspirer of coworkers, an enormously kind & valuable friend…

LRT: this has been made especially obvious to me when trying to get any kind of mental health help through the much-vaunted Employee Assistance Program.

Every. Single. Story. about women not using AI as much as men portray it as bad for their future career prospects (without a shred of evidence) and a result of women being fearful little ladies rather than looking at AI's output and saying "this sucks, it's not going to help me."
For women, the increase of AI use in the workplace may affect their careers: Harvard study
Women are using AI significantly less then men and it’s going to have a major impact on their careers, according to extensive research on the topic.

Day off work for massive anxiety spike this morning (and that was before I’d read about gov’s latest incitement to hate against immigrants and the MC/Visa censorship bullshit and other misc ongoing horrors). Dragged myself out for a mental health walk, saw some good flowers.

Today in “is it ADHD or just capitalism?”: figured out that my job is not the problem, the problem is having to have any job that I can’t just put down at will when I’m Not In The Mood, for however long I’m Not In The Mood for.

Gentler lives (or pockets thereof) still exist: learned from this that the Mammal Society has a project called “Searching for Shrews” and someone else is doing a survey called “Thoughts on Storks”.
