A relaxed Sunday morning (self-portrait with thoughts)
A super rough sketch of me, a fat woman with short curly hair sitting on a couch, legs stretched out and one crossed over the other. The entire rest of the page is full of my actual thoughts as I sat there, except in my head they weren’t separated out like this, many overlapped. One of them is just the words “darning mushroom” circled. Some of the other thoughts: “/Your love is my love and my love is your love/ Repeat ad nauseam” “What time does the bookshop open, can I go get the book before breakfast?” “Dangit, just, calm, be here, look at the trees and the birds Ha, the ‘birds’ are just pigeons well “just” pigeons wood pigeons, I actually think I prefer the city pigeons, more colourful Some of them are actually stunning, so shiny” “Should I drink a small glass of water before I drink this Swedish blueberry tea I’ve made myself? Actually it would probably be a good idea to always start the day with some water. But what of if I get bored of water?” “I don’t actually understand what the counsellor meant by “relaxing” if this isn’t it Thoughts don’t just stop, so they?”

Part of an incredibly vibrant wall hanging made from naturally dyed paper beads sewn on bark cloth. There are leaf shapes in white and many solid circles in reds, oranges, blues, purples, some overlapping. Made by Sanaa Gateja, currently on display at V&A East Storehouse.

Day off work for massive anxiety spike this morning (and that was before I’d read about gov’s latest incitement to hate against immigrants and the MC/Visa censorship bullshit and other misc ongoing horrors). Dragged myself out for a mental health walk, saw some good flowers.

Happy Easter from an ex-Catholic now solely retaining the cake-based traditions.
Precariously balanced—but upright!—sponge cakes in the shape of a lamb and a bunny, covered in icing sugar. On the same plate in front of the lamb are two cupcake wrappers containing chocolate nests with mini eggs in them.

A crochet blanket covering most of a king size bed. The design is called “The Lost Garden” by Helen Shrimpton. It starts with an overlaid star in the middle and has a lot of different textured stitches in rounds of four colours: grey, raspberry pink, lavender, and light blue.

Not the most photogenic bake, but I’m feeling a bit smug about these. Replaced the Earl Grey in a recipe I saved off Mara Wilson’s twitter yonks ago with my current obsession “French Plum” Meßmer tea and it works! Mwahaha.

Hadn’t unfolded this crochet WIP fully to look at in a while (~10 rounds to go on it), still really like it.

Pattern is “In the Lost Garden” by Helen Shrimpton.
An almost finished crochet blanket spread out on our couch. It has a circular centre motif like a star surrounded by flowers and rounds of textured stitches. The colour scheme is raspberry pink, light blue, lavender purple and a soft dark grey.

Super-satisfying thing about cross stitch on linen that’s almost impossible to photograph: the way the stitches sit on top of the fabric. Tactiiiiiiile.

Doodles of two unholy creatures. One has a sort of horsey head if you squint, on a squatting monkey body that could also be a hairy frog? The other has a maybe more recognisably monkey head on a stripey “horse body”, insofar as it is possible for mere mortals to draw horses.

Tynemouth & Cullercoats
Low entrance to a small beach cave. The camera has exaggerated the bright green seaweed cover on the left side of the rock wall and deepened the red of the rock on the other side, making this look like the entrance to something much more exciting. A starling sitting on a sea wall. A white boat is just visible on the right sailing behind it. Cullercoats arch. Just a small arch carved out of a rocky cliff by the sea. It looks more impressive in pictures! Tynemouth priory and castle sitting above its moat under quite a dramatic-looking sky.

South Shields

Here she is, tiny poppet. I think her name is Atalante, Ati for short. (I put the bloomers and cami off for a week to have a “pattern matching for a rag doll, please be serious” argument with myself.)
