4. What we do have is a choice between a world in which concentrated capital takes yet one further step along the path of the industrial revolution, appropriating and mechanizing the knowledge that currently resides within labor, as with the Jacquard loom.

attacking and brutalizing your neighbors in the vast majority of cases for minor civil violations, menacing or brutalizing you if you get in the way, depriving you of the right to elect local leadership of your choosing, telling preposterous lies about everything. intolerable. cannot be tolerated

Earlier this year, @realchangenews.bsky.social vendor Don Lowe passed away. He cultivated a community of 50+ friends who cared for him in the last part of his life. They pooled their funds every month to pay his rent for more than 5 years. It truly shows how an act of kindness can snowball.

groceries and consumer goods way higher, higher deductibles/employee contributions for health and other benefits, weaker dollar, frozen labor market. this is an incredible squeeze!

the three pillars of Good Regional Interpretations of Pizza are: Detroit, St. Louis, NYC

each GRIP is dimensionally different: fluffy; crispy; soft but in two different ways.

each GRIP is unique in a way that adds interest, without reducing essential pizza purity.

all others fuck it up somehow.
It's America's finest regional varietal other than classic NY
Do you have any comment on St Louis style pizza? I’ll hang up and listen

upside of sounders backslide is Morris in and Rusnak getting healthy. Weather Obed's absence, and get the best 11ish guys to gel for playoffs. this team has a good run in it. gotta cut the stupid mistakes out though. but we saw the ruthless lethality they possess when they're firing on all cylinders

People will tell you:
"Traverse City is wonderful! It's so fun, I love it!"

They're morons! TC, like most of the aptly named flyover country, is an armpit; a shithole for losers; a place of abject tedium.

Don't let the hinterland rubes fool you. Outside of big cities, the midwest sucks major ass.

Awards like Coach of the Year are based on vapid, superficial, or at least conventional, consensus of those who, by nature of following the league brutally, lack the familiarity to really adjudicate what coaches are accomplishing with their teams

for me, Schmetzer's CotY awards are the trophy case
I think the idea that this was a valid criticism through ‘20 is pretty empty.

Schmetzer’s success in that time came hand-in-hand with Lodeiro’s presence and performances, but 4 MLS Cup Final appearances and 2 wins in 5 seasons goes well beyond the perception of “Nico is the system”
Since '22 Schmetzer has been regarded as an all-time great MLS coach, and really since '21 when he showed it wasn't just "Nico is the system."

That was a valid criticism of him through '20. He's shown since then that he and his staff are much more forward thinking than almost anyone in MLS.

The thing about Robert E Lee is he should have been executed in front of the gutted husk of a torched Virginia plantation mansion, and that should have been his official portrait, and we should have put it on our money.
The Pentagon is restoring a portrait of Gen. Robert E. Lee, which includes a slave guiding the Confederate general’s horse in the background, to the West Point library three years after a congressionally mandated commission ordered it removed, officials said.

People know what Nazis are, they know what happened to the Nazis, and they therefore know what they're saying when they call Trump and his mob Nazis. That is crystal clear from today. Crystal clear.

This isn’t dooming because fascism has been fought and beaten. There’s nothing inevitable about it and it is actually a really shitty politics that makes everyone’s lives miserable. But I think we are beyond the point of seriously debating whether it is here. It is.
