Wow: Per Hamdi's legal team, his only charge was a visa overstay — after Trump revoked his visa.

Despite DHS tweeting that Hamdi supported terrorism, they never charged him with any criminality.

In other words: Trump revoked a journalist's visa, so agents could arrest him for overstaying his visa.
NEW: British journalist Sami Hamdi is being released from US detention.

Trump administration agents detained him two weeks ago at the San Francisco airport — hours after he addressed an event, where he urged US leaders to take an “America First” approach rather than “Israel First.”

By the way, this is a niche issue but a constant headache. Complaints are investigated by COPA not CPD and the police misapply the #FOIA statute *every time* to refuse to release information. Good on the Sun Times for pressing for it.

We've found DHS is giving local cops a new facial recognition app to find immigrants. Point camera at face, tells the cop to detain person or not. The app is available on Google's Play Store. Google took down apps that report ICE sightings but now hosts this app

I did some quick math and getting legal representation to the people kidnapped in Chicago so far would cost ~50Million

This "multiple hop" theory was invented by the spy agencies for allowing themselves the ability to read your emails and IM history.

Now the government is saying it gives them the legal authority to *kill you* if your neighbor's cousin is suspected of drug trafficking w/o evidence.
This three-hops theory is especially insane. Even if you assume each person is connected to only 100 other people, there are 1m people within three hops of every suspected drug trafficker—and remember that even *known* drug traffickers aren’t legitimate targets. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/30/u...

The State Department knows it is illegal to classify information that prevent release of things like *evidence of human rights abuses* and they do it anyways.
The State Dept IG's claim that it can't publish any part of this report because it contains classified information doesn't hold water.

There is no way the entire report must be classified. Agency officials should conduct a line by line review for [insert annoyingly wonky FOIA term] segregability.
