One of the many (silly, nonsensical) arguments that anti-repatriation folks have is that if we return all of the stolen artefacts, our museums would be empty.

Meanwhile, artefacts dug up by metal detectors in this country are being sold off…wonder where their outrage is? 🤔
Today's news:

What happens when museums can't afford to buy coins...

'Auctioneer, David Guest said the "stunning" coins were sold to "bidders from all over the world and exceeded my expectations".'

Bidders.
From.
All.
Over.
The.
World.

Just had an email telling me my X/Twitter account has been suspended for breaching rules on inauthentic behaviour. Since I only use it to follow my football team, local Council & some public utilities, I’m not sure how I could have done this. Ah well, I’ve appealed & will wait to see what happens.

The new subscription prices for JAWS are a bit of a shock. I suppose that’s what PIP & ADP are supposed to help with, but it’s still a huge increase in pricing, and many screen reader users won’t be able to afford it. Maybe it’s time to try NVDA.

The laws of football were first codified by the FA in England, but the game was being played for centuries before that.
Now we have evidence of the oldest known football pitch. In Scotland.https://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/archaeology/worlds-oldest-football-pitch-scotland-b2745414.html

This time with Alt Text (I hope). This is my new novel, A Plague Of Emperors, covering a time of crisis in the Roman empire. If you enjoy historical fiction, I think you’ll like this one.

My new novel, A Plague Of Emperors, is out now on Amazon in p/back & Kindle formats. It’s Book 7 in my Scipio series, taking the 3rd Century Crisis of Rome to a new level.
Please give it a try. Thanks.

Meta have issued new privacy policies to take account of their Look & Describe feature coming to the UK. I’m getting very impatient for the update to arrive. This feature is amazing for vlind people, giving quick answers to questions about what is in front of you when wearing the Meta Ray-Bans.

#Covid Vaccination Programme Underway
Public Health Scotland (PHS) is encouraging everyone offered a COVID-19 vaccine this spring to come forward, get vaccinated and stay protected - because COVID-19 hasn’t disappeared. Last summer in Scotland, there were more than 10,000 reported cases of COVID-19 and over 4,000 people hospitalised. Elvira Garcia, Consultant in Public Health Medicine and Immunisation Coordinator at NHS Orkney said: “Even if you feel healthy or your medical condition is well-managed, scientific evidence shows that older people and those with certain underlying conditions are more likely to get seriously ill from a COVID-19 infection.

In Scandinavia, a VAR revolution is brewing.

Sweden has already rejected the system and now fans in Norway are organising walkouts and throwing fishcakes onto the pitch in protest.

Could this be the start of a wider rebellion?

Well, that was a stressful listen, but Dundee United got the 3 points after a tough struggle. Top 6 finish almost certain now, which is quite an achievement for an entirely new team in its 1st season in the top league in Scotland. It’s not always pretty, but it’s been quite effective.

The morning after the night before. That was an all too familiar performance from Scotland yesterday. Lacking pace or imagination. We’ll need to up our game in the World Cup qualifiers but I’m not sure we have the players to do that.

Skye: Scotland’s Jurassic Island
A fossil first spotted in Skye over 50 years ago has finally been extracted from the base of the cliff where it was found and, following analysis, formally identified as a Jurassic dinosaur. Dr Elsa Panciroli with the Elgol dinosaur fossil Image credit Neil Hanna The fossil was first discovered in 1973, making it Scotland’s earliest recorded dinosaur find. It was not fully identified at the time and remained uncollected until a team led by Dr Elsa Panciroli returned in 2018 to the location near Elgol, in the south of the island, to undertake its extremely challenging extraction from the rock.

Willie Collum, Head of Referees in Scotland, has confirmed that VAR made 3 serious blunders in the past couple of weeks. I’m not sure what good this does. Fine to admit mistakes, but how about improving standards? Those errors of judgement were so clear & obvious everyone knew VAR was wrong.

At the gym yesterday, I used the Oorion app to help me find a couch in the reception area. It worked really well, & even warned me that 2 people were sitting on the couch. A quick scan found another empty couch. I was really impressed with this app.

I constantly hear/see journalists, commentators & interviewers asserting how easy it is to get incapacity & disability benefits despite clearly having no real understanding of how the process actually works or having spoken to someone who's been through it. Completely distorts public understanding
Yet again *another* Times columnist - this time Emma Duncan - makes a blatantly false claim about disability benefits

"At present you can get signed off sick simply through a phone consultation with a GP."

Just shockingly bad journalism, again and again and again.
