Am I reading this correctly: the firms that opposed Trump's intimidation tactics have suffered no consequences, whereas the firms that struck deals gave away $900 million while jeopardizing any work with clients who have interests at odds with the government?

There's a lesson in there somewhere.

Good piece for understanding Abbott and our political moment
There’s something missing in Greg Abbott. Over the last decade, he seems to have learned to fill it by moving troops around, a hobby which is having a stranger and stranger effect on his country as time goes by: www.texasmonthly.com/news-politic...
What the Texas National Guard Deployment Tells Us About Greg Abbott
Our governor can be a maddeningly inscrutable figure. His latest exercise in ordering troops around can help us understand him.

Maybe keep the schools open instead?

Abbott egged on the Jade Helm conspiracists, who claimed that a military training operation was actually Obama invading the state of Texas.

Now a U.S. president is deploying Texas troops to other states to dominate and intimidate those states, and Abbott is complicit.
I call on Governor Abbott to immediately withdraw any support for this decision and refuse to coordinate. There is no reason a President should send military troops into a sovereign state without their knowledge, consent, or cooperation.

DHS agents regularly lie to community members, employers, and in court.

2) Takeover of city's local police to force cooperation.
3) Surging federal law enforcement to city for immigration arrests.

LA got 1 and 3. DC got all 3. Chicago may avoid 1 but it ALREADY HAS 3. chicago.suntimes.com/immigration/...
