Guelph news: this guy bought a 400 year old Ming Dynasty roof tile at the Aberfoyle Antiques Market in 1966 and it was on Antiques Roadshow in 1999, valued at a grand.

Just heard the sad news that legendary actor Tatsuya Nakadai passed away

Aside from Ran and the other incredible Kurosawa films, I implore you to check out The Sword of Doom

I saw it for the first time a few years ago and became instantly *obsessed* with it, and Nakadai's fearsome performance

Tyler the Creator on whether youth culture still exists. I don't know if this is completely true, but it does seem more true today than in the past.
Excerpt reads: "Perhaps it’s this particular admixture of openness and mystique that accounts for the diversity and devotion of his fans. It’s rare for an artist 15 years into his career to be at the peak of his popularity, but here he is — and today, Tyler’s fans range from middle schoolers to baby boomers. That’s a testament to his appeal, though he has his own theory. “I don’t know if youth culture exists anymore,” he says. “I think a 42-year-old and a 15-year-old could have the same humor and style.” He thinks back on himself as a teen, caught up in “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” (2007), a song that many older hip-hop heads despised. (At the time, Ice-T said that the song “single-handedly killed hip-hop.”) “And now,” Tyler adds, “it’s like, people be on Twitter, 25 years’ age difference, talking about the same thing.”" The excerpt is from a New York Times Style Magazine feature on Tyler the Creator, titled "Tyler, the Creator Always Does Things His Way"

OBAA was fun, entertaining and elicited some feeling here and there, but ultimately: a movie about politics with zero politics and tons of car chases, cheap ending, tons of work put into basically nothing.

Kiss were certainly the most Aggressively Cis Hetero of the glam rock-adjacent bands, but maybe that's what was needed to really spread glam in an extremely homophobic time. Glam metal ended up becoming a huge refuge for lots of gender-nonconformists, they were a key figure in it.
