Austinities: a friend created this website which shows how much of our property tax revenue goes to the state, ostensibly for poorer school districts but actually to refill the state's rainy day fund. Unfair to Austinites, leading to chronic underfunding here. recapturerecapture-x6lulin.gamma.site

While We Squabble Over Hundreds… Texas is "Legally Stealing" Thousands Prop Q will cost my family about an extra $181 if it passes. Last year, the Texas Legislature took $1,743 from us though "R...

Me, to my students on Wednesday: “if history is any guide, the party out-of-power will be blamed for the shutdown. Trump’s comms team would have to be phenomenally untalented to negate this advantage.”

Trump’s comms team:
Mentally ill? What makes you think that?

[Interior, FBI Crime Lab, Scully & Mulder look over The Grinch's corpse in the autopsy room]

Scully: Odd, his heart appears to have been 3 sizes larger than normal, but there's stretch marks on his aorta, as if it grew suddenly. What could've done this?

Mulder: Not what, who. Cindy Lou Who.

Adam:

It’s James Carville.

I just read that Democrats have only raised $11M through text messages this quarter.

I’ll be real with you: Donald Trump is hungry for this news. In Louisiana, we call this a cajun quagmire.

Can you donate $15 now to fix Democratic fundraising?

I’m counting on you.
The annoying spam texts destroying the Democratic brand:

$678M raised through those spam tactics

$282M to one consulting firm: Mothership Strategies.

$11M to actual campaigns (1.6%)

The party isn’t just treating donors like marks—it’s being fleeced itself yet continues to back Mothership.

How a single consulting firm extracted $282 million from a network of spam PACs while delivering just $11 million to actual campaigns.

I know the rest of the world doesn’t need to hear my opinion, but… if you want to avoid becoming a violent, shitty country like the United States:

1. Jail your rich people when they commit crimes.

2. When your rich people commit crimes, jail them.

3. Jail is the best place for rich criminals.

Today’s No Kings protest in Austin went as planned, despite the fact that the Texas State Capitol was evacuated earlier due to a “credible threat” against lawmakers who were scheduled to speak at the protest.

A two-story house in a northwest Austin neighborhood sustained damage Sunday that caused it to collapse, according to first responders.

It’s fascinating to see how people are confused by outdated and incomplete information during a breaking news event.

The house that exploded did not exist when the Google Street View car last visited in April 2024. It was just a foundation. This misleads people who don’t notice the date stamp.

If you have money invested in the markets- retirement, college funds, anything at all- Trump and his friends stole from you with today's stock manipulation scheme.
What happens to stock markets when government officials with inside knowledge and ability to instantly change economic policy just keep running pump and dump schemes over and over again?

they don't actually want to 'rewrite the Social Security codebase' or whatever, they just want to destroy it

going "wow, not really possible, hehe they don't know what they're doing" is less useful than saying "their only intention here is destroying Social Security"

The focus is on the "embarrassing" detail of accidental texting but the *real* problem is govt officials using encrypted personal chat to hide meetings from recordkeeping law. The name "Houthi PC small group" implies there are many such secret texting groups being used for basic executive operations
