“It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.”

Luke 17:2 KJV

And that’s red letter text, by the way.

I am very lucky to be able to go biking through the boreal forest and on the frozen surface of the 10th largest lake in the world.

Lake Winnipeg is spectacular!

The other day we ordered supper from Gojo, an amazing Ethiopian restaurant near us on Sargent. Everything was fantastic!

But it was this bright green, super spicy sauce that smells and tastes strongly of garlic and cilantro that I loved the most. It's called Kochkocha, and it's wonderful.

We watched The Princess Bride with the kids for the first time last night.

They absolutely loved it, and the breakfast conversation this morning is basically nothing but quotes from the movie.

You know, @ryankturnbull.bsky.social, the path to a career in the Anglican Church can be quite varied.
If you're looking for a sign to switch careers: this is the sign.

I don't even know what to say. This is beyond anything I thought I'd see in my lifetime.
This is surreal. 4 Oglala Lakota men kidnapped by ICE in Minneapolis have finally been located. One of them was released but the other 3 are being held at Fort Snelling, a former concentration camp used to imprison Native people incl. the Dakota 38 during Dakota Wars.

I remember reading once that US adults always long for the community they had at university, because so many of them go away to school in college towns, and it's the only time they ever live in dense, walkable, transit-friendly communities.

It's too bad this isn't a goal for all urban areas.
Here are the 20 US urban areas that had the highest per-capita transit ridership in 2024.

New York, unsurprisingly, dominated. Among the big urban areas, the other leaders were SF, DC & Boston.

A lot of small towns—like Ames, IA or Champaign, IL—did well, too. That's because they're college towns!

Anyone know how to find the owner of a Samsung Galaxy?

I found one in the snow on the sidewalk on Spence Street, north of the University of Winnipeg, at about 8:30 pm on New Year's Eve.

When I try "Emergency Call", there is no contact info listed under View Medical Info.

An infinite number of mathematicians walk into a bar.

The first one orders a beer, the second orders half a beer, the third orders a quarter of a beer, the fourth orders an eighth of a beer, etc...

The bartender finally says "That's it, you've reached your limit", and pours two beers.

Dreamweaver by Gary Wright was just in a commercial playing on a tv in the background. Doesn't matter what the commercial was for, that song will only ever remind me of one thing.

I flipped my glasses up on top of my head so I could read something small on my phone... and then I couldn't find my glasses. 🤦🏼‍♂️
