The Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within Downtown Winnipeg?

In the ridiculous 80s classic comedy Top Secret, there's a scene where the East German army officers discuss how a prisoner won't crack, and one of them suggests bringing out the LeRoy Neiman paintings

Another responds "No, we cannot risk violating the Geneva Convention."

Google Maps seems to have a knack for hiding the exact business name or street name I need to see when I zoom in on a location.

Rarely do you come across a perfect comic, but @chrishallbeck.bsky.social seems to have done it here.

Given all the craziness from our southern neighbours, it's very nice to see our governments promoting vaccinations.

This article from @doubleemmartin.bsky.social in the @winnipegfreepress.com is so good.

I love how it shows a good side of Winnipeg people too often think doesn't exist.

I love the list of global cities the MLB considers important enough to need to be informed about the start time of tonight's World Series Blue Jays game.

Go Winnipeg!
It's almost time for the #WorldSeries to begin. Where will you be watching?

How do podcasts actually make money from advertising when the only ads I ever hear are for other podcasts?

Is this because Canadian advertisers don't advertise on podcasts? Is it different when you listen in other countries?

Near as I can tell, the shortest distance across Canada, from Stanley Park in Vancouver to the Cape North Lighthouse at the tip of Cape Breton, is 6255 km.

This morning I just passed that distance with my cycling kilometres so far this year.

I wonder if I'll get to hear Raise a Little Hell by Trooper again tonight. Here's hoping! 😐
Canadian advertisers and broadcasters:

When I said I was tired of hearing Lay it on the Line by Triumph over and over and over during the NHL playoffs, this was NOT a request to instead play Raise a Little Hell by Trooper over and over and over during the MLB playoffs.

The cycling community in Winnipeg is so great. After we had several bikes stolen from our garage this summer, I don't have a mountain bike for my annual fall camping trip this coming weekend, and my commuter bike won't cut it on the gravel roads and single track out where I'll be.

So I posted... 1/
