Dark enlightenment & other crazy Thiel pet projects are unfolding. It's critical that people understand that the brownshirts hacking the entire USA infrastructure and dismantling it are his and Elon minions. Thiel sees himself as some sort of Saruman, while he fondles his Palantír.
What’s happening now is part of a plan to end democracy:

“It is clear that Thiel sees corporations as the governments of the future and capitalists such as himself as the kings, and it is also clear that this is a shockingly common view in Thiel’s cohort.”

A giant of fierce defiance has left this world but his legacy will not falter.
We say goodbye to a man who refused to accept the world as it was.

Jesse Jackson didn’t just march in history he helped write it. He stood in the long shadow of Martin Luther King Jr. and refused to let that dream fade when the cameras left and the crowds went home.
Rev. Jesse Jackson, civil rights icon and two-time presidential candidate, dies at 84
“Our father was a servant leader — not only to our family, but to the oppressed, the voiceless, and the overlooked around the world,” the Jackson family said in a statement Tuesday.

Like there's not already enough to worry about as an author in the AI era without this level of evil hitting your inbox on a weekly basis (which it now is for me and Jason and - I'm sure - many thousands of others).
Book club scams are now threatening authors who don't fall for their BS. In December, I received an email from Herry Sharp, so-called CEO of "Super Book Lover Curator" praising my novella We Who Hunt Alexanders.

Totally AI-generated and a scam so I didn't respond.

Now Herry is threatening me. 1/

Bluesky was literally meant to be a cryptobro social network for grifters, LinkedIn sludge, and libertarians who know way too much about age of consent laws.

Jack Dorsey *left* when instead of weird and off-putting cryptonerds, trans people started hanging out here.
Can you think of examples where people use technologies differently from what the developers intended, whether unintentionally or as an act of resistance?

This how you isolate and capture "the worst of the worst" of these dangerous immigrants. You show yourself to be in need of help, and the worst criminals reveal themselves and their criminality by doing whatever they can to provide you with help.

Masterful law enforcement.
CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

Went over to X to check out a list of farewell tweets from laid off Washington Post journalists and it was a huge thread with very active accounts. Tried to find some of them on Bluesky and some were absent, some had inactive accounts, and some here, but not many really. A big absence on Bluesky.
It's galling to contemplate but I really think you have to admit that Musk buying X was an unqualified victory. It can't be exaggerated just how much prominent journalists, pundits, business type, etc. mistake the vibe on X for "how the country is feeling."
