For Everything is Political, I reported on young people working multiple jobs. It's about more than side hustles—factors like worker exploitation & lack of opportunities to break in have impacted multiple generations. Now, some young adults say working only one job has never felt viable.
The Toll Working Multiple Jobs Takes on Young People
“Rat race,” “chaos,” “stressful”: these are just a few ways young people are describing days stuffed with side projects, shift schedules, and Google Calendars color-coded by job. Illustration Credit: ...

you should pay the mcdonalds lady a living wage so that she can buy music equipment and work less hours so she can make music

instead of squeeze her so hard that the only way she can "make music" is by asking a robot to steal some in the 5 minutes she has between work and bed
What do we think about the assertion in this meme? I know, we think it's asinine, but I'm looking for specific arguments as to why it's asinine.

(1/11) If you live in NY, you’ve probably started seeing a new warning: “THIS PRICE WAS SET BY AN ALGORITHM USING YOUR PERSONAL DATA.” This mandatory disclosure went into effect late last year, and it’s the first attempt by a US state to grapple with a new generation of surveillance pricing.

someone should write a book just on the VMAS from 1998-2004 (this incident is from 2003)
reading GIRL ON GIRL as someone born in 1998 and finding out Snoop Dogg took women in chain leashes to an awards show was jarring… to me he was mostly a feature on “California Gurls” and friends with Martha Stewart, which really helped him soften his image I guess
like a lot of things would surprise people who arrived in 2026 from 1992 but "Snoop Dogg will be marketing himself as a friendly cuddly guy who comes to every Olympics event" is way up there
