yes this right here, man. this RIGHT HERE. and this isn't the first time the twin cities have been on that rodeo and I'm pretty damn sure so many people first time protestors seeing how they were treated in 2020 is why they hit the ground running so fuckin' hard this time
One of the things about people showing up to protest for the first time, that many, many armchair theorists don't grasp, is the effect of seeing what happens with your own eyes, then seeing how media covers it, and what is said ABOUT YOU by media and political personalities/office holders.
This dude is intense and correct

It's interesting how much response I've gotten this week with a string of metal bands.

So I'm re-upping this truly excellent piece from @highcountrynews.org "Heavy metal is healing teens on the Blackfeet Nation"

There are no warrants, no legal safeguards, no cooperation with local agencies, no transparency about goals or activities. It is just dudes in SUVs kidnapping people of color at random. The fact that they immediately flee from mere observation by ordinary citizens gives the game away.

that's a valknut, which is associated not the with s.s. but with nordic paganism and which has been coopted by white supremacists. intent should not be assumed but interpreted in context, this context being the american gestapo perpetrating ethnic cleansing. so yeah, nazi
I wonder how long it will take the media to catch on to the fact that ICE’s recruiting spree has effectively deputized every white supremacist hate group out there.

This is a whole thing right now.

Lots of people with power and privilege using the oppressed as a shield to justify their inaction—when the oppressed are actually already very much in the fight and need solidarity and support to strengthen their actions.
One thing that strikes me here is that it has indeed been “lower-level” regular folks who have the most willingness to stand up to ICE

We can debate who *should* bear the burden of opposition. Or we can look at who is already doing so right now, and ask how to support and protect them.
The general theme of this commentary is "stop asking MN companies to ban ICE from their properties." The argument is that enforcing the ban would fall to individual low-paid employees, who would be placed in danger.

Don't read into it. Newsom is a Republican sympathizer and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he went the Eric Johnson route, positioning himself as a moderate, post-Trump Republican in 2028 to challenge JD Vance.

Whether he does or not, he is not our friend and should be handled with caution.

Let me tell y'all about guys like Newsom, because we learned the hard way in Dallas.

Eric Johnson was a respected Democratic state rep when he was elected mayor in 2019. This made sense, as Dallas is deep blue. Johnson's tenure began normally.

But then he started hanging out with Republicans. 🧵

The point here is to believe people when they tell you who they are. Gavin Newsom hangs out with Republicans because he likes hanging out with Republicans. This isn't 4-D chess. He wants to hang out with Ben Shapiro and Steve Bannon. When he says he agrees with them on things, it's because he does.
