One of the things about people showing up to protest for the first time, that many, many armchair theorists don't grasp, is the effect of seeing what happens with your own eyes, then seeing how media covers it, and what is said ABOUT YOU by media and political personalities/office holders.

There are no warrants, no legal safeguards, no cooperation with local agencies, no transparency about goals or activities. It is just dudes in SUVs kidnapping people of color at random. The fact that they immediately flee from mere observation by ordinary citizens gives the game away.

One thing that strikes me here is that it has indeed been “lower-level” regular folks who have the most willingness to stand up to ICE
We can debate who *should* bear the burden of opposition. Or we can look at who is already doing so right now, and ask how to support and protect them.

The general theme of this commentary is "stop asking MN companies to ban ICE from their properties." The argument is that enforcing the ban would fall to individual low-paid employees, who would be placed in danger.

Don't read into it. Newsom is a Republican sympathizer and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he went the Eric Johnson route, positioning himself as a moderate, post-Trump Republican in 2028 to challenge JD Vance.
Whether he does or not, he is not our friend and should be handled with caution.
