One more on the biotech sector. $BBC (basket of clin-stage biotech) has crossed the $IBB (pharma & big bio basket). This is traditionally a buy signal for biotech stocks. (We all used to use $XBI for this until its silly re-weighting, so now it's BBC).

Or, as the MIZUHO desk wrote yesterday: “We haven’t seen healthcare outperformance like this in nearly a decade.”

Not for nothing, but also an apt metaphor for politics. Right and left shouting at each other while EVERYONE else just tries to get on with their lives.

Baseball writers should be fucking ashamed of themselves. Cal Raleigh is the AL MVP. Period.

I co-taught entrepreneurship for a decade at the college level. The #1 reason against jumping into their beloved biz idea? Healthcare insurance cost. Then the ACA came and helped, something it does NOT get enough credit for. "Feeling like entrepreneurs" doesn't mean what he thinks it means.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

Anyone else spend time looking up "killigram" this morning to make sure they didn't miss some accepted alternative spelling for "kilogram"?

A university that signs the “compact” is one that acknowledges its own inability to compete and succeed based talent and merit. It would signal insecurity and mediocrity to current and future students and faculty. Say no. Recruit the best people, protect their freedom and support their hard work.

Seven years ago today, Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi was tortured, murdered and then dismembered. And any so-called comedian who can't stand up tonight in Riyadh and do ten minutes on that kind of hijinx and horseplay just isn't worth the Saudi blood money he's being paid.

There's been a lot of confusion about which states could redraw their House maps before the midterms, so we've put together a definitive guide to every state that could actually do so—16 in all.

We explain the likelihood of new maps, probable targeted districts, and any obstacles to passage.
Here's every state that could draw a new congressional map by 2026
Most states can't pass new maps quickly—but those that can favor Republicans

IT would be helpful for everyone if y'all could do one simple thing: Quit trying to ascribe logic to these people. Quit attempting to explain their actions and statement through a lens of rationality. Start using words like, "lie", "unacceptable", "false", "unqualified", "junk science".

When colleagues ask me how my day is going, I think I'm going to start answering some variation on, "Down 2" or "Up 3". They'll eventually learn this corresponds to the net decrease/increase in number of Things to Do sticky notes on my desk. I bet I can start a trend...

Simple first cocktail this evening. Dark & Stormy with Kraken on the left and the more traditional Goslings on the right. With apologies to Goslings since they sponsor several of our local sailing race events, we prefer the Kraken. Bundeberg ginger beer for the base.

Colleagues and I have reviewed 1,704 vaccine RCTs that have been published. These have included 10.5M participants. 661 of these used inert (eg, saline) placebo controls.

ALL VACCINES that are recommended have been studied in placebo-controlled trials.
