The science breakthrough of 2025 is Solar Energy, not because it is new but because of how successful its deployment has been. This year renewable energy surpassed coal as a source of electricity worldwide. Hopeful sign for what’s to come.

What's funny about this is that Cat Almonte Da Costa was a Lander patronage hire - her (Jewish) husband Ricky Da Costa was political director on his Comptroller campaign and is currently his Deputy Comptroller

This is such an important counterpoint to everyone who argues for means tested programs over universal programs - the bureaucracy hoops you have to jump through for the means testing often result in a lot of the neediest people never accessing the benefits they supposedly have a right to
Zohran Mamdani explains that thousands and thousands of New Yorkers are already eligible for free and reduce public transportation, but because of the bureaucratic hurdles they never get enrolled in the program.

That's why he wants to just make the bus free.

Huh this is so strange, I find QT responses to be way more aggressive than direct replies. A reply is like quietly continuing a conversation, a QT like going and telling all your friends about it and inviting them to jump in as well

Jeffries: the one thing I agree with Trump about is that corruption should be legal
Jeffries claims the charges against Cueller were "very thin" and says Trump's pardon was "exactly the right outcome"

The modern day political allegory in the new Wicked movie is a little too on the nose - yes, we get it, the Wizard is Cuomo, Elphaba is Letitia James and Glinda is Kathy Hochul, no need to beat us over the head with it

I never get this "Will Stancil keeps arguing and arguing with you" experience everyone raves about, I always just make an inarguable point and then he bails.
Even someone who has that preference of course knows that it's not a universal preference - we have all heard of NIMBYs!

We might look for a lot of different motives, but MTG is following a very long line of Republicans who had some small power over Trump but choose to surrender that power rather than face a Trump-backed primary candidate (and whatever violent threats came along with that).

It's pretty cool seeing the refusal of any competent civil servants to carry out Trump's political prosecutions paying fruit as the morons they have doing it instead repeatedly fall flat on their faces
“Within the upper ranks of Trump’s government, this latest development went over as well as you might expect. “There go our chances of imprisoning Comey!” one senior Trump appointee vents to us…”
