the person who posted this and most of the people liking or retweeting it didn't vote, or voted for cornel west or jill stein

so funny that every person who rants about gerontocracy immediately pivots to worshipping bernie doing an obvious 2028 campaign rally

Honestly astonishing that the same Bluesky people who believe AOC, an isolationist who has voted against every single US military budget,will/should be president

Also apparently believes that she will do a regime change invasion of El Salvador because we don’t like their elected leader

for 9 months unemployment on a minimum wage job was $1k because of dems passing CARES, then ARPA extended it 6 months and reduced it by $200 along with $250-$300 per kid per month if making less than ~$115k. 3 months after arpa passed congressional approval among dems went from 60’s into the 30’s

This is easy to post, but - Bukele is *incredibly* popular. Probably the single most popular politician on the planet. He could be a dictator if he wanted, but doesn’t need to

He is also a fascist

What do we do with this? What is the liberal, democratic approach here?
Dems need to make it very clear that Bukele will end up like Noriega once they are back in power
Trump now saying — contrary to his previous statements and those of federal officials — that people removed from the U.S. to El Salvador are in the “sole custody” of El Salvador

It was a bad day to be an Egyptian

Hero of Egypt award goes to the 102mm recoilless rifle team that sniped an Israeli tank at extreme range, and then survived 12 tank shells, several mortar barrages, and an airstrike

IF Garcia is even still alive, Trump knows he can't allow him back into the country because he will immediately become ALL THE NEWS. His only move as far as he's concerned is letting Garcia rot and die, which he almost certainly will fight to do to the bitter end.

This is a turning point moment.
Don't overlook this: Trump is leaving Abrego Garcia to rot in a foreign gulag even though the admin can always bring him back and *retry him for deportation in a lawful way.* That they won't do this shows their case against him is nonsense.

New piece from me:

Trump’s Horrifying Removal of Man in “Error” Takes an Even Darker Turn
The Trump administration could allow Kilmar Abrego Garcia back into the U.S. and try to deport him through proper channels. So why won’t it even do that?

Except there is one RIGHT NOW! It’s too important to cede this crucially important issue to the right because you find it icky

Half of Koreans will not exist in 50 years. Half! And every day it continues the problem gets worse and harder to fix and the consequences more dire

bluesky progressives are still openly and proudly spreading baseless republican conspiracy theories that nearly got the speaker of the house murdered. they seem to not understand that *the conspiracy machine will be turned on people they like too*, not just that bitch who beat bernie

Still surreal that the Palestinian movement actively campaigned for Trump even as he openly said he would deport or jail them. Then with the war still going on, they disbanded in celebration after his victory

this will be the GOP playbook in future elections across the country. just find any pretext to throw out ballots in heavily democratic counties, doesn't matter what, and let friendly courts legitimize it
🚨NEW: The NC Supreme Court's GOP majority will retroactively nullify 2,000 to 7,000 ballots from military and overseas voters unless they quickly prove their identity—but only those who voted in a few Democratic counties.

Could overturn Justice Riggs' victory.

yes, but people have managed! Erdogan appointed his idiot son in law to run the turkish central bank, did literally the exact opposite of good policy, caused thousand percent inflation in the lira, and so far paid little political price
you can have cult of personality-based authoritarian consolidation or you can blow up the economy and make everyone’s lives noticeably worse but it’s difficult to see how you manage both
things will probably go to shit, but i suspect that Trumpist consolidation will not work primarily because almost every successful regime consolidation we've seen involves buying off the middle class

“I expect infinite solidarity from you, and I will give none back”.

Is “Fuck you, I’ve got mine” a good stance for labor to take, I wonder lol
I'm hearing a lot of people on here slamming the UAW's Shawn Fain for supporting tariffs.

It's time for a quick lesson on what unions do and do not do.

I do not agree with him, but unions DO NOT EXIST TO BE YOUR ALLY IN WHATEVER THE ISSUE OF THE DAY IS

Unions serve their members.

"ex biden state department official lies about something they had no knowledge of"

why would this state department guy have knowledge of discussions allegedly happening at the highest levels o the Israeli military, in direct opposition to every stated word by the Israeli government?

if the public or press cared even a little bit about insider trading trump would not be president today!

every argument that people make about how the dems are *totally* blowing this needs to explain to me exactly why a public and press that elected donald trump 6 months ago suddenly cares
The insider trading shit is a good angle and I’m glad dems are going with it, because it’s simple enough to be easily comprehensible and just straight up corruption.

A significant amount of gen z social media is *scam influencers*. People whose entire jobs and careers are based on advertising how awesome scams are

there were no nigerian prince influencers who made popular media about how much they made off of nigerian prince and advertising new princes

TL;DR: The new U.S. tariff rate against our two largest trading partners is either 10%, 25% or 35%, and so far no one I've reached out to at the White House is able to tell me which.
So the White House says the 10% baseline tariff also applies to Canada & Mexico. It has not said whether that's the effective new rate itself; whether it adds to the 25% fentanyl tariff, making the new rate 35%; or whether it kicks in only if the fentanyl tariff falls away

the last time there was a mass anti trump protest movements the leading lights of the left sneered at it and mocked it. with trump back in power and their podcast revenues appropriately juiced as a result, they are doing it again

they love trump, he owns the libs, their true enemy
We know you would, that's the entire problem

the CCP is ideologically anti welfare to an extent that would be unthinkable even among conservatives in the west. And this is a common thread among communist regimes - somebody getting welfare is seen as a parasite, leeching off of the workers and stealing from the Party
I am begging people in the left to learn a bit more about China
April 8, 2025 at 6:58 PM
everybody on bluesky's favorite representative, AOC, has not said a *single word* about the tariffs. Not one. Not a word, not even a post

where are the outraged posts about "meeting the moment" and "refusing to fight" and "paid to lose"?
April 8, 2025 at 6:45 PM
This is true, and it’s an enormous shame on the left that they spent all their energy saying we were doing nothing. We had the most generous pandemic response in the entire world, and every progressive journalist and influencer was posting about how Australia totally did more
I think very few people even among the politically informed have internalized how CRAZY an exception CARES was to the US policy tradition. for awhile there our unemployment system was like an *order of magnitude* more generous to low-income people than any Nordic country
another thing that bears repeating is that i bet people's expectations for government response to a recession are extremely high (CARES/HEROES) and we are just *not* getting that
April 6, 2025 at 1:23 AM
this sounds very impressive and people are retweeting and liking it as such, ignoring of course the *minor* fact that when canvassing you are knocking on the doors *of democrats*. Surgically targeted high propensity to vote democrats! No shit they are watching!
Just kicked off a canvass in Germantown, Wisconsin, in deep-red Washington County. As the volunteers and I spoke, Cory Booker's filibuster was on in the background.

His act of courage and resistance is the backdrop in Wisconsin to a day when voters are standing in defiance. An inspiration.
I’ve taken the Senate floor and will speak for as long as I’m physically able to lift the voices of Americans who are being harmed and not being heard in this moment of crisis. Watch here:
