Thrilled to share "in situ APEX activation" (iAPEX), a proximity labeling technology for subcellular #proteomics applied to primary #cilia. iAPEX uses an enzymatic cascade, in which a D-amino acid oxidase locally produces H2O2 to activate ascorbate peroxidase.

1. I feel like this is such obvious advice that it gets taken for granted & consequently no one says this to young scientists but READ PAPERS, read all the papers. As you move up in your career you will have less & less time to do this. Read everything that appeals to you not just in your field

Our group investigates the role of #lipid droplets (green) in killing intracellular pathogens (blue, E coli in human macrophages) when they are searching for nutrients. In our family we have nicknamed them defensive lipid droplets and FATal attraction. Credit @robparton.bsky.social @UQpress
