“When Citizens United was decided in 2010, billionaires had spent $18 million on the 2000 election, $13M 2004 and $16M in 2008. Then came the deluge. In 2012 it was $231M, and nearly doubled again in next three election cycles —to $682M in 2016, $1.2 billion in 2020 and $2.6 billion in 2024.” Gift:

Being a centrist rocks; you get billionaires to dump a bunch of money on you to found new groups every year that tell the same billionaires what they want to hear. Lose elections, get more money, found new groups.
Ezra Klein's Abundance movement is getting some backup: A new political group is urging Democrats to embrace "pro-growth," deregulatory policies with an eye toward 2028, according to plans first shared with Axios.
Exclusive: Centrist Dems strike back with new group
It's the latest effort by moderate Democrats to shape national politics and expand their influence.

We’re in the midst of a great dumbing-down of the States. A neo-dark age entirely of our own making.
I do want to shout-out my fellow sociologists, who have collectively created a discipline so woke that not a single one of our introductory textbooks can make it past Florida's censors.

Great work everyone.

This reads like a combination of longstanding servility/pettiness and desire to help PiS & the further right parties in the Sejm.

Russia spent $160,000 in 2016 and it triggered a congressional investigation. So long as this is allowed to keep happening in Democratic primaries, the party is fundamentally unserious about confronting foreign election interference.
Incredible things are happening in the NJ-11 Congressional race, one example: Tom Malinowski, a pro Israel candidate running to re-enter Congress, is accusing AIPAC of using India-based call centers to run scripted ad calls against Malinowski.

i don't think removing, like, noem or rubio or hegseth would matter all *that* much in the scheme of things, but i think removing miller would be substantial. i think he's going to be one of the hardest people to dislodge as a result (also because he's not in a senate-confirmed role)
Millerism means Minneapolis times 100 for a decade. It would tend the United States apart. It is something close to Milosevic’s line.
