It's a real treat to watch @lawrenceodonnelljr.bsky.social tonight. His deep knowledge of Senate workings frames legislative decisions in ways that other commentators can't match.

If the President can impose his own taxes and use the proceeds to spend on his own projects, all without Congress, we have a dictatorship not a constitutional republic.
BREAKING: Deputy White House Chief of Staff James Blair said the administration is eyeing ways to give millions of Americans $2,000 dividend checks from tariff revenue without congressional approval, per Bloomberg.

Let me tell you about the other Epstein files the Trump administration is STILL HIDING — records that aren’t affected by the bill Congress passed today.

A bad thing is unfolding at NIH this week: It looks like the Trump administration is trying to replace key civil servant scientific leaders, the Institute Directors, with political hires. These directors control the NIH budget, tens of billions.

Schumer led Senate Democrats in fighting Trump over healthcare, period.

If you think Senate leaders can control members of their caucus, you don’t know much about the Senate. And before you say “McConnell,” remember why we still have the ACA when Trump and McConnell wanted it gone.

The last 24 hours have been hell and that doesn't always bring out the best in people. Watching Lawrence O'Donnell made me glad he's on the air.

This is how we lose. A prominent person posted that they were angry and suggested that every D senator be primaried. When I respectfully questioned the wisdom of that, I was blocked. And, a person who told me I was wrong to question person #1 also blocked me. This is counterproductive; sigh.

Sen Cortez-Mastro is the chair of Democratic outreach yet is one of the 8 who caved. I doubt that she will be effective going forward.

Making the best of where Ds are means we need to message smartly.
Dems want ALL Americans to have enough food and good healthcare.
Or
Rs want hardworking Americans to go hungry and to go without decent healthcare coverage.
Or
Rs are serving up hunger and medical bankruptcy; Ds serve you.

Why are people blaming Democrats writ large when it really was 7 D senators?

Politically-based hate might bring about the demise of our democracy. Too many excuse the bad behaviors of their "side" despite screaming when the other guys did it.
Two examples from my own posts from this week.
1. Too many gleefully danced on Dick Cheney's grave and bristled at me

@atrupar.com since so many people interact with your content, please consider taking down the still photo of Trump in the Oval today. The video of the event makes it clear that he did seem concerned and only struck the pose in the photo when doctors intervened.

Protesters should mock ICE and CBP by bringing subs to every protest.

The photo circulating
where Trump seems to be ignoring someone who fainted in the Oval Office is not a true reflection of his response. In the video, he was initially concerned and did watch people attend to the man who fainted. He only turned back when it was clear the situation was under control.

Trump did on 60 Minutes what he does every time. He spews a blizzard of lies, exaggerations and assorted other falsehoods, and if (as usual) the reporter isn’t equipped or doesn’t bother to push back, he keeps going.

It's always so painful to watch Trump being interviewed because it's just one lie after another. Nora O'Donnell is catching him on some but he floods the zone so that many lies go unchecked.

Trump filed lawsuits over jokes, tweets, and news articles, but not once over any of the countless allegations of child rape. I feel like more people should mention that.
