hello US editors - this is your job done right
Donald Trump has committed the most profound, harmful and unnecessary economic error in the modern era. Almost everything he said—on history, economics and the technicalities of trade—was utterly deluded econ.st/3YbbFjq

These absolute morons are going to destroy the United States.

If you’re in favor of the US leaving NATO, you either don’t want the US to succeed, or you don’t know wtf NATO does.

Worth noting that Mike Lee voted to expand NATO in 2022.

Complete and total gratuitous mayhem — and on top of every other savagery and stupidity involved there is no way that this kind of wasteful abandonment of investments and frantic evacuations are cost saving — it’s just vandalism and nobody voted for this shit.

Like … is not one democratic lawmaker willing to go enter a building and demand illegal activity stop? Even if they get arrested? Especially if they get arrested?
No one's blaming Democrats for causing this crisis, but yes, many of them are failing to meet this moment.

One Democratic senator could bring the chamber to a halt. House Dems can go to fed agencies being gutted by Musk with cameras in tow. Governors can push back. State AGs can bring lawsuits.

My mentions are filled with people insisting Senate Democrats are powerless.

They’re not. They can throw up roadblocks by denying unanimous consent, forcing quorum calls, using holds and filibusters, etc

It’s so easy to figure out even a dimwit like Tuberville managed to pull it off.
"Oh, but whatever could the Senate Minority Leader do to gum up the works? There's nothing he could possibly do!"

Watching history being made turns out to be terrifying.
This is a constitutional crisis: the President doesn't have the power to cancel funds appropriated by Congress. Also, the math is insane; there is NO way to cut $4B/day by getting rid of "fraud". Cuts of that magnitude will dangerously undermine the core functions of government.

I do not recall a 24 hour or one week news cycle with more disturbing news about the state of the presidency and the US government in it than those of today and the past seven days. January 6 was nothing compared to this. But make no mistake, this too is the gov't being torn apart by a mob of thugs.
