Not for nothing, but why has the NDP taken nearly a year to replace Singh? I feel like we're going to get a Spring election because Carney is probably never going to be more popular than he is now, and he gets to run against Trump's mini-me and apparently nobody at all on the left. Malpractice!

Not for nothing, but there is presently global concern about the debasement of the American dollar, and bitcoin is down 6% on the day. When someone tells you that it's a hedge against devaluation, they are obviously lying. It is, and always has been, a purely speculative unregulated security.

For all the "P(doom)" stuff that gets brought up with AI, it seems to me that nukes are a much more serious risk.
If these fears truly drive the AI community, why do we not see similar worries about US foreign policy driving the world's worst to nuclearize ASAP?

One ought to be careful about these sorts of statements, but the lesson from Saddam to Gaddafi to Maduro to Kim Jong to Putin seems to clearly be that if you lead any country in the US crosshairs or any that might end up there, you need to have a nuclear deterrent or a well drafted will.

There seems to be a rhetorical similarity between the rationales given by crypto boosters and by US government on the Carribbean boat strikes, namely that one rationale (store of value/legitimate strike) swaps to another (have fun staying poor/no war, no war crime) when challenged.

If we are trying to support the idea that blending orphans may increase the stock price of a tech company we need one (1) study performed by a directional college in Hungary, if we are trying to support using taxes to help the needy we need one million pilot programs with a 100% success rate.
