This is exactly what I mean when I say that it is impossible to reduce friction, only to move it around.

The text-making-up machine dropped the friction of "research" to zero, but every single person downstream of that "research" who has to act upon it now shoulders a double workload.
Librarian here. Got an email from a patron about our "poor selection" of books on AI, w/ list of new books that we HAD to get so ppl could stay informed about this important subject. Title, author, synopsis.

Of 11 titles on the list, 10 Did Not Exist. At all.

"Yeah, I got it from Ch*tGPT, why?"

Playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard was weird for me at times.

As I saw passionate discourse on social media, saying it's either great or terrible. I kept playing it and thinking... "Yeah, I don't know, I think it's fine."

My 3000ish word review!

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Review- The Man In The Middle
There’s a popular meme out there where two girls are having what looks like an insane fight, and meanwhile, some kid seems to be smoking a bong and having the time of his life watching the fi…

⭐️ It's been a while since I've shared any #new snacks or cereals — but don't worry, I haven't stopped noticing them. Here's a bumper blog post with all the new products I found in 2024!

I hope you enjoy looking at all of this weird stuff as much as I do! (You don't, but.) cabel.com/2025/01/27/t...
The Snacks & Cereals of 2024
Welcome to 2025. The vibes are a little heavy, so, I’m trying very hard to focus on the things I can control — and yes, that includes remembering to share things that delight me like the late…

Mikey Madison was a force of nature in Anora. She’s my pick for best actress, but I’d still be happy to see Cynthia Erivo or Demi Moore take home the Oscar.

I enjoyed Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but it felt like a game made for an alternate timeline. The PG-13, Marvel-movie tone was a huge departure from previous games in the series. It’s a shame because the level design and combat are top-notch.

Looking forward to getting hit with 23 consecutive red shells.
The new Mario Kart will seemingly feature 24 racers at the same time!

This is a first in the series history.

I’m very curious what it means to have a perpendicular road, without any visible barriers, in a Mario Kart game. Perhaps a hint at a more open gameplay experience?

Reassesssing the "historical accuracy" of every "medieval" city setting that doesn't have rich douchebag towers
...absolutely incredible. Here's what Medieval Bologna would have looked like when all its towers were intact. Florence didn't have so many but did have dozens, so the richest part of the city center would have looked much like this. Much to the despair of the city fire brigade! 11/?

Marking my calendar for Suikoden I & II HD Remaster. I love games with complex political narratives but haven’t tried either of these yet! Which should I play first?

My relationship with Big wasn’t the only thing I blew up that day. At the Trinity test site I detonated the first plutonium bomb, unleashing a 22 kiloton blast. Had I become Death, destroyer of worlds? Meanwhile uptown, Samantha had her hands full with her own “Manhattan project”

I’m so excited for Monster Hunter Wilds. I’ve used the insect glaive when playing the previous titles. Should I mix it up this time? What weapon should I use?

Me: cool cool what do the skills do?

Returning to Thedas in Dragon Age: The Veilguard reminds me of the deep lore in Baldur’s Gate. They dive so much into gods and history of magical realms. Are there JRPGs with D&D levels of world building?

I’d love to see a Final Fantasy game with the same companion structure as The Veilguard. Intermixing main quests with quests to deepen your relationship with disparate party members. Maybe for a FF6 remake?

Recruiting allies in Dragon Age takes me back to the camaraderie of party-based adventures in Chrono Trigger. Should I mix up my party to keep things fresh or stick with my faves? What’s your strategy for building the perfect team?

Update: Meta spokesperson Liz Sweeney confirmed to me that the bots are old, from 2023, part of an "early experiment." They're taking them down to address the issue of users not being able to block them. Full update in the story below:
Im seeing conspiracy theories about the Meta AI bots. A few points: these profiles date back to 2023 & haven’t posted since early 2024. They had low engagement before this week. And it seems possible they were kinda abandoned bc they flopped like other Meta AI bots!
