Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth might not have won the most awards this year, but it won my heart. With a refined battle system, a world that’s a joy to explore, and characters I could hang out with forever, it’s my personal Game of the Year. What’s yours?

Happy 37th birthday to Final Fantasy! I most recently played the GBA remake and was reminded of how well the classic formula still stands up today. So fun to see how each remake updated the sprites.

One of the best surprises of 2024? Animal Well. It wasn’t just a game—it was an experience. Playful, mysterious, and absolutely rewarding. Big Mode gave us something truly special with this one.

I watched the latest Dungeons & Dragons movie last night and really loved it. The action scenes were particularly inventive. I wish these types of classic action adventure movies came out more often.

Earthbound! I was drawn in my the modern setting and off-beat atmosphere but became addicted to the town -> dungeon -> upgrade gameplay loop.

The Independent Game category for the Game Awards is incredibly competitive this year. Animal Well, Balatro and UFO 50 are all career defining achievements. I’m absolutely torn on who to vote for.

I spent a lot of time in Metaphor Re Fantazio this weekend, and it’s one of the most captivating RPGs I’ve played in years. The political intrigue and character development remind me a lot of Final Fantasy 6. Anyone else picking up this vibe?
